I taught high school mathematics for 30 years (1996–2026), including Dual Credit College Algebra (MATH 1314, 2014–2026) and AP Calculus AB (2006–2026). Courses I prefer (but not limited to) are College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, Algebra 1, Algebraic Reasoning, and Algebra 2. My day-to-day strength is algebraic: functions, graphs, and equations, and getting students to do the work. I do not tutor elementary math.
My philosophy is students learn mathematics by doing mathematics. In Dual Credit College Algebra, many students took the course as an online hybrid: they watched my personally recorded videos, did independent Pearson MyLabs work, and asked me for assistance when they needed it, with tests proctored by myself. That is how I tutor now. We work the problems together. I will not do the assignment for you, and I will not hide the steps.
I hold an M.A. from the University of Houston (2014) and a Texas Educator Certificate in Mathematics (Secondary/7–12). I been an AP Reader, where I graded the AP Calculus exams (2014–2026).
If you are in College Algebra, Precalculus, or Calculus — high school, dual credit, or college — send me a message and we will see if it is a good fit.
