Hello, I'm Ashley! I graduated with a Master of Education from Lamar University and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Fines Arts from Florida Atlantic University with a focus on Graphic Design. My professional background includes a decade of experience as a Special Education teacher, where I have specialized in supporting students from Pre-K through 5th grade. I currently hold Texas certifications in Core Subjects (EC-6), Special Education (EC-12), English as a Second Language (ESL), and I am a Certified Educational Diagnostician. Throughout my career, I have realized that the most successful learning happens when a student feels truly understood. I aim to be an anchor for my students, translating complex academic hurdles into manageable, confidence-building steps.
In my tutoring approach, I prioritize a multisensory and data-driven method. I typically begin by utilizing diagnostic screeners, such as the Woodcock-Johnson (WJ-IV), KTEA-2 or NWEA MAP, to pinpoint exactly where a student's foundational gaps lie. Once we have a clear starting point, I lead sessions using Multisensory Teaching Approach (MTA) and evidence-based tools like Saxon Phonics and Rigby. A typical lesson involves a creative introduction to the concept, explicit instruction tailored to the student's learning style, and dedicated time for guided practice. I am always happy to adjust this flow based on the specific goals outlined in a student's IEP or 504 plan to ensure our time together is as impactful as possible.
Beyond my 10 years in the classroom, I spent three years providing targeted tutoring within Cleburne ISD and now work as an independent tutor. I have extensive experience in resource, co-teaching, and inclusion settings, which allows me to support a wide range of needs including Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism, and Intellectual Disability. I am committed to being highly responsive and easy to reach for both parents and students. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule your first lesson!
