Hello! Let me introduce myself a little...I have been a Texas certified middle and high school English Teacher for 20 years, helping students with grammar, reading, writing, and all facets of language arts. I have worked in public, parochial, and independent schools, and I have taught a range of classes from special education inclusion to Talented/Gifted to AP, so I am familiar with a wide variety of curriculum approaches. I want to help your student maximize their strengths, find confidence in their own abilities, and gain knowledge they can apply for success in their English classes and writing assignments.
In addition to my full-time K-12 experience, I have also worked with college students and adults in Higher Education for over 15 years, teaching Adjunct English classes for Southern Methodist University, Dallas College (multiple campuses), and the University of Texas at Arlington, where I also served as an Instructional Designer and certified Reviewer for undergraduate and graduate hybrid and online courses, working with Faculty on best practices for student-centered course design in a wide variety of content areas.
I am a Texas Longhorn at heart (B.A. in English from UT Austin), and I received an M.A. in English from Southern Methodist University; I also have a PhD ABD in Education Policy and Leadership from the University of Texas at Arlington.
