Bio

I have BA from Texas Tech University, certified PK-12, with 23 years of teaching Elem. music in the public schools. I started teaching myself trumpet in Kindergarten. I learned by listening to a cassette tape, and following the directions. Since music runs in my family I was able to learn and grow in my knowledge of music. I also played trumpet for many years. I have BA from Texas Tech University, certified PK-12, with 23 years of teaching Elem. music in the public schools. I started teaching myself trumpet in Kindergarten. I learned by listening to a cassette tape, and following the directions. Since music runs in my family I was able to learn and grow in my knowledge of music. I also played trumpet for many years. As a trumpet player in Highschool, I sat first chair, made it to All Region, and Area Bands and was honored at festivals for my Jazz solo's in the Jazz band. I was in Texas Tech's Goin' Band From Raiderland for 4 years and Symphonic Band.

My previous tutor experience is I have 12 students on various platforms. I teach trumpet, by setting your embouchure, strengthening your embouchure, by using warm up exercises. Each of my students will learn to read music. Beginners start with the basics of theory and playing the trumpet, slowly increasing the range and flexibility. You will learn easy songs each lesson, building upon prior knowledge of the lesson before. Intermediate and advanced students will be taught by where they are in their present skill range, and ability. Each student is taken on an individual basis. I am a very patient instructor and work well with all age-levels.

What incredible instruction I received from Laura today. It was more of an expression than just a lesson. We were able to make tweaks and adjustments that manifested into a much smoother sound. I would definitely recommend Laura to anyone desiring to either learn trumpet or continue building on your current skills.

Knowledgeable, patient and capable Instructor

I have taken up the trumpet after many years of not playing. I am retired and want to learn more about the trumpet and strengthen my embouchure. Laura has done that and more. She has taught me how to reach the high registers and given me advise about playing softly and with confidence. I will absolutely take more lessons from Laura. This was my first experience Zooming a lesson and I like it more than I thought I would. By the way, Laura also helped me get ready for the Zoom lesson too! I will definitely do this again with Laura!

Wow. I can’t believe that I was able to go from a place of not being able to make a sound through my embouchure and trumpet to playing notes and a song in two lessons with Laura’s coaching and instruction. I highly recommend Laura if you are looking forward to instruction. I came into this as a beginner with no prior musical experience and after two lessons with Laura and following her practice instructions, I’m super excited about continuing this journey!
