Hello, my name is Samyul, and I am currently a sophomore at Baylor University. I am majoring in History with minors in Religion and Economics.
My educational background is in classical education since middle school, giving me extensive experience in analytical reading and academic writing. Throughout my education, I have written essays on every work I have studied, such as Crime and Punishment, Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, works by Plato and Aristotle, Augustine’s Confessions, The Brothers Karamazov, and Nietzsche, and many others. And at the end of my senior year of high school, I received a distinction award for my Senior Thesis on Augustine’s Confessions.
When I teach, I first ask either the student or the parent to send me their essay along with the assignment guidelines and requirements, including any other specific instructions. I also ask students to provide any relevant course materials, such as books, lecture materials, or other sources related to the assignment. I would like to receive these materials at least a day before the tutoring session so that I can familiarize myself with the assignment beforehand.
During the tutoring session, my focus is helping students strengthen and develop their own ideas, identifying problems with logic, organization, and sentence structure, and whether it effectively supports the paper’s argument. I will also help students integrate quotations and evidence more effectively.
But I want to make this clear: I will not write the essays for students. My goal is to teach students how to become strong, independent writers. I provide feedback, explain weaknesses in their writing, and help them understand how they can improve later when writing. It is ultimately the student’s responsibility to take what they have learned during the tutoring session and apply it to their own essay.
