Hi, I'm Brandon! I have a PhD in social psychology from Miami University and have 5 years of experience teaching undergraduate psychology courses on topics such as statistics, scientific writing, research methods, introductory psychology, and social psychology. I am proficient with SPSS and am an author of several published scientific articles. In addition to offering one-on-one instruction in classroom and office settings as a university professor, I was also an award-winning tutor with America Counts.

I've taught course sections ranging in size from 20 students to over 500 students, but my favorite part of teaching has always been one-on-one experiences. I love tutoring because I can really tailor my approach to fit your needs – I can figure out what you already know, what the "sticking points" are (that is, what things aren't making sense or where you can improve), and how best to help you overcome these sticking points. I love seeing concepts finally "click" for students and watching students grow their skills. Although I can definitely help you rehearse "the facts," my tutoring approach is to help you understand what's "under the hood." For example, what is the formula of a statistical test doing conceptually? What do those SPSS options you're selecting actually mean? Why is a scientific paper structured the way it is? What does a theory or a study's results actually tell us about how people work? Developing this deeper understanding will help you gain confidence, remember the material better, and take your skills to the next level.

First meeting:
Fit is very important to me. Before we start tutoring, I like to meet with students for 10-15 on Zoom (free) to see if the fit is right and develop a plan for moving forward.

I've been working with Brandon on SPSS, ANOVAS, Paired comparisons, etc. Thus far I've worked with 10 different tutors. Statistics is not my forte and I have been struggling to find a good fit. Exceedingly kind and helpful

Brandon helped me understand some basic statistical knowledge that I needed for a large foir part question in grad school. I learned more from Brandon in a few days than I did in a whole semester at grad school. He’s extremely patient and understanding and knew exactly what I needed to do in order to answer my homework questions efficiently while helping me understand the basics of statistics. He was very flexible on timing as I had to get babysitters for our meetings and he didn’t mind waiting 5 to 10 minutes while I got to a meeting location. I would highly recommend him.

Great Statistics Help

Brandon was highly responsive, professional and most importantly approachable. Statistics or any math-related coursework, for that matter has never been my strong suit. However, I did what I could and then shared my work with Brandon. For my coursework, I had to focus on SPSS outputs (Levene's, t-Test, ANOVA), correlation, analysis, interpretation and application. Brandon was able to quickly identify areas for improvement and errors in my calculations and statements for 2 papers over 1 hour.
