Greetings, I’m Carey. My passion is guiding students through the complex world of law and political science, transforming challenging concepts into clear and manageable frameworks. I hold a Bachelor’s in Political Science and a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law, and I am a licensed attorney having passed the Texas Bar Examination. This strong academic and professional foundation allows me to tutor not just for a grade, but for deep comprehension and practical application.
My teaching experience is built in higher education, where I have served as a professor of law at both Baylor University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law and the UNT Dallas College of Law. For several years, I have taught legal writing, analysis, and substantive law courses to aspiring law students in a classroom setting. This role has sharpened my ability to break down dense material from case law to statutory interpretation into logical steps, always focusing on the critical reasoning behind each rule.
My tutoring approach adapts my classroom methods for personalized, one-on-one engagement. I believe in a dialogue-based style, using thoughtful questions to help a student find their own path to the answer, which builds lasting confidence and sharp analytical skills. I am well-prepared to support students in pre-law political science courses, offer comprehensive help with first-year law school subjects, and provide strategic preparation for the Texas Bar Examination, with special attention to the essay writing and issue-spotting skills essential for success.
