I graduated from UT Tyler with a BA in Psychology. I earned a Master's in Social Work from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2004, and I currently serve as a member of their Adjunct faculty in the School of Social Work. I have served 26 years with a community mental health agency in direct care and administration. I enjoy creating an atmosphere for people to learn. I believe theory is important, but you must be prepared for the "real world". I provide practical lessons to bridge the gap between the "book knowledge" and experience. I believe mentoring and supporting students is just as important as providing information. My goal for each individual is to access their strengths and develop strong independent thinking skills.
I have officially taught for 5 years with Stephen F. Austin, but I also provide trainings with individuals who are part of our team in the mental health agency where I serve. I have an affinity for assisting in undergraduate Psychology subjects, Cultural Competency skills, professional writing skills, English grammar, and test preparation for social work licensing exams.
Being asked to work with students who need guidance or assistance is a privilege. It is also a team effort. Both student and tutor must commit to working together and giving the best of themselves to this effort. Please contact me with any questions, concerns, or if you need further clarification. I look forward to working with you!
