I am a current reading and dyslexia intervention teacher in Texas with 12 years of experience supporting elementary students. My background includes teaching certifications in both Texas and Florida K-6th, in special education K-12, Reading K-12, along with advanced training in the Reading by Design dyslexia program and structured literacy. I have worked in public school settings as both a classroom teacher and intervention specialist, where I design and implement targeted instruction aligned with evidence-based practices.
My teaching approach is grounded in structured literacy, incorporating explicit, systematic instruction in phonological awareness, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, spelling, writing and comprehension. As a special education teacher I regularly use diagnostic data to individualize instruction and monitor progress, ensuring that each student receives support tailored to their specific needs. I also integrate multisensory strategies and scaffolded supports, which are especially effective for students with dyslexia, auditory processing challenges, or other reading difficulties.
Over the course of my career, I have worked with a diverse range of learners in both small group and one-on-one settings, including students with IEPs and those requiring intensive intervention. My experience spans over 12 years in education, where I collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families to support student growth. I focus on building both foundational reading skills and student confidence, creating a structured yet supportive environment where learners can make meaningful and measurable progress.
