I have been teaching mathematics for 35 years. This is my 17th year of teaching algebra, geometry, college algebra, dual credit trigonometry and precalculus in Houston. I tutor some students who take honor's class of geometry and trigonometry. I also have an experience in teaching middle school level math.
I appreciate student's will to learn by understanding. Shortcuts in solving problems can be used only if you understand what concept is behind that shortcut. I measure student's knowledge by his/her ability to explain the way(s) that leads to the correct answer. So, I expect that student is not shy to ask questions if there are difficulties in understanding.
