I am a PhD-trained biochemist with over 20 years of experience in scientific research and science education. My background includes extensive work in chemistry and biology, particularly at the foundational and introductory college level, along with mentoring students as they develop a stronger understanding of core scientific concepts.

My approach to tutoring is focused on clarity and step-by-step understanding. In my experience, many students struggle in chemistry not because the material is beyond their ability, but because key foundational ideas were not fully solidified early on. I work with students to identify exactly where confusion begins and then rebuild those concepts in a structured and logical way so they can confidently apply them in problem solving.

I primarily support students in general chemistry, introductory college chemistry, AP chemistry, and biology or biochemistry courses. My focus is on helping students strengthen their understanding of core topics, prepare for exams, and improve their problem-solving skills in foundational chemistry and biology coursework.

In each session, my goal is to help students become more confident and independent learners by understanding the reasoning behind each step, rather than relying on memorization or shortcuts. I aim to make challenging material more accessible by connecting concepts in a clear and practical way.

Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I regularly use algebraic equations to teach and solve chemistry and physics problems
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

I earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University and completed postdoctoral research in Hematology & Molecular Genetics at MD Anderson Cancer Center. My graduate and postdoctoral work involved molecular biology, genomics, protein chemistry and enzymology, giving me extensive experience with the concepts covered in undergraduate and graduate biochemistry courses. In addition to research, I have many years of teaching and mentoring experience and enjoy helping students connect the chemistry of molecules with biological processes. I emphasize understanding pathways and mechanisms rather than memorization, enabling students to master topics such as amino acids, proteins, enzymes, metabolism, and gene expression.
Biology

Biology

I hold a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University and have extensive experience in biology through graduate research, postdoctoral work at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and teaching. My background includes molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, genomics, metabolism, and biochemistry. I have taught high school science and focus on clear explanations and building conceptual understanding so students can confidently apply biological principles to coursework and exams. I also work to strengthen understanding of core topics such as cell structure and function, metabolism, genetics, and physiology.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I hold a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University and have extensive experience in chemistry through graduate research, postdoctoral work at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and teaching. I have taught high school chemistry and worked one-on-one with students to build a strong foundation in core topics such as stoichiometry, bonding, thermodynamics, and reaction behavior. I focus on clear conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills so students can confidently succeed in coursework and exams.
Physical Science

Physical Science

I hold a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University and have extensive experience across the physical sciences through graduate research, postdoctoral work at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and teaching. My background integrates principles of chemistry, biology, and physics, with emphasis on quantitative reasoning, experimental design, and real-world applications. I have taught high school science and focus on building clear conceptual understanding so students can confidently apply physical science principles to coursework and exams.
Physics

Physics

I hold a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University and have extensive experience teaching and applying physical science principles in both academic and research settings. My background includes postdoctoral research at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where I worked with quantitative, model-based approaches to biological systems that draw heavily on physics concepts. I have taught high school science and worked one-on-one with students to build strong conceptual understanding in physics topics such as mechanics, energy, waves, and basic electricity. I focus on clear reasoning and problem-solving to help students confidently apply physics principles to real-world and exam problems.
