I have decades of experience teaching children reading, writing, arithmetic and science. After 10 years of teaching in a traditional setting, I went and got a Montessori certificate and taught for another 20 years in a Montessori Magnet School. My goal is to help the child to understand the how and why to solve a problem. Using the socratic method, I can find what the student needs to determine what the student knows. I use multiple ways to make the topics understandable. I have patiently drawn pictures, created songs, drawn acronyms, and used objects to make the material understandable. Nothing make my heart sing more than hearing a child say, "I've got this."
I have tutored students from Kindergarten through 6th grade. I have taught elementary students for 30 years in classroom settings both here in the US and Internationally.
