She earned an Associate of Arts in Music from Texarkana College, a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Henderson State University, and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Stephen F. Austin State University. She received the highest honors from each institution.
She has taught voice, piano, choir, music appreciation and music theory at University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana, Southern Arkansas University, Messenger College, Texarkana First Baptist School of Worship Arts, and independently for 15 years. She serves as Associate Director of Music for Williams Memorial United Methodist in Texarkana, Texas and as a guest musician for many kinds of events and other churches.
Each of her tutoring sessions begins with short assessments to measure the student’s progress. Starting with the second session, she uses the student’s grade on these assessments to calculate grade-based pricing. She desires to make quality music education affordable for anyone who practices consistently. After the assessments, she reviews weak concepts or teaches new ones. She concludes by assigning practice work and assessments for the following session.
