Experienced High School Teacher Focusing on Physics and Chemistry

I'm Barret! I graduated with a degree in Biochemistry. During my time as a student I found that the classes I appreciated the most weren't necessarily the topics I was most interested in. Rather it was the teachers and professors who made the classes enjoyable. These professors were always engaging and comprehensible when teaching the material in the classroom, and willing to go the extra mile when asked for additional help. or clarification. I try to bring this knowledge to my tutoring and my own classroom, and do everything I can to make learning a pleasant experience. I use lesson plans in which I usually introduce the topic in a fun and creative way, then explicitly teach the material. Afterwards I always ensure time for students to practice the material on their own. Of course this method can be adjusted based on the subject and student's individual needs.

I have fifteen years teaching experience with physics and chemistry in the classroom both as introductory courses and at the AP and IB levels. During this time I have had a varied experience in class sizes and student ability levels. I have always made sure to spend some one on one time in class with my struggling learners to make sure they don't fall behind. I have always been available to tutor any student that has needed extra explanation or assistance to ensure their success.
