Hi! My name is Rohini (Ro-hee-nee). I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional and Technical Writing. I have been teaching since 1998 at my alma mater: Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professions. I have taught 9th-12th grade English, as well as Public Speaking and Study Skills. I have tutored students after school for many of those years.
I enjoy working with students one on one as it allows me to target specific areas of need and allows them to grow their confidence in a less intimidating environment. I specialize in grammar rules, writing mechanics, MLA format, Jane Schaffer formatted writing style for writing literary analysis, and reading comprehension in the process of literary analysis.
I empower students with the confidence to master reading and writing, as if you can do those well, all other subjects can be comprehended. I will work with you first to see what areas we need to target and then create lessons that we can practice together, next give you the tools to practice on your own with me there as a resource and finally after session practices for you to reinforce the learned skills. At the end of each session, I will ask how the session went and if there is anything we need to add or change as I want each student session to be specific to your needs.
