I am a student in the University of Houston Honors College pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with minors in Biology and Business Administration. My academic background includes coursework in biology, biochemistry, general and organic chemistry, genetics, and anatomy and physiology, which provides a strong foundation for tutoring life science and pre-medical subjects. In addition to my coursework, I am a certified EMT and have worked as a medical assistant in a clinical setting, where I assisted with patient care, vital signs, EKGs, stress tests, and patient education. I am also a research trainee at MD Anderson’s Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Center, where I analyze clinical data, conduct chart reviews using Epic, and contribute to peer-reviewed research. These experiences allow me to tutor with both academic depth and real-world application.
I have formal tutoring experience from my time at Eye Level Learning Center, where I provided instruction in math and English to elementary and middle school students in one-on-one and small group settings. I worked with approximately twelve students daily, including gifted and talented students who required advanced instruction. In addition to paid tutoring, I have served as a mentor in academic support programs, working with students from diverse backgrounds to develop effective study habits, confidence, and long-term educational goals. Through these roles, I have experience teaching students across multiple age groups in both structured instructional environments and individualized mentoring contexts.
My teaching approach emphasizes building a strong conceptual foundation before moving into application and problem-solving. I tailor each session to the student’s goals, learning style, and pace, focusing on clarity, critical thinking, and effective study strategies. My goal is to help students gain confidence and independence in approaching challenging material while promoting long-term understanding and academic success.
