Hi, I'm Maryam! I’m an incoming Computer Science freshman at Texas A&M University, and I’ve been tutoring students in math for several years. I first started my teaching experience with Code Ninjas as an instructor, teaching kids ages 7+ foundational coding, problem-solving skills, and robotics. Currently, I work at Kumon, where I teach K–8 arithmetic, algebra, and reading comprehension. I also served as an SAT Bootcamp tutor through School House, a program that invites students with high SAT performance to teach others. In that role, I worked with students who needed help with SAT math basics as well as students who wanted to jump from the low‑1000 range into the 1300–1400s. I created personalized lesson slides, explained strategies for common problem types, and spent extra time preparing materials.
My tutoring approach is very personal and student‑centered. I always start by asking questions about the student, trying to understand how they learn, what they struggle with, and what makes them feel confident. I also ask them questions about themselves and get to know them personally, because students do their best when they feel comfortable with their tutor. During online lessons, I use interactive whiteboards, encouraging students to solve problems on their own, and I provide additional problems to work on outside of class. Whether I’m helping with K–8 math, Algebra 1 or 2, or SAT foundations, my goal is to create a positive and comfortable learning environment. I look forward to working with your students!
