I have a varied teaching background which includes languages, jewelry-making, dance, art, and more. I’ve taught both children and adults. I had the joy of living overseas for fourteen years before moving back to my homeland, the United States. The various cultures in which I lived opened my eyes to new languages, foods, celebrations, and art. I lived in four different countries, including two in Europe and two in North Africa. I studied three languages in both formal language schools and informal settings with tutors. Over time, I discovered that my favorite teachers had some things in common: patience, intuitive teaching, and a love for students. These are the qualities I strive to live out in every class I teach. Overseas, I taught English and literacy classes for immigrants. Having been an immigrant myself, I understand the challenges of learning a language while also learning to do life in a new country. This has given me a heart full of patience and compassion for language learners.
I also have experience teaching Bible studies in both English and French. My theological studies, which included Greek and Hebrew, have given me the tools for deep study of Biblical texts. My experience teaching both language and Biblical studies gives me a unique perspective for teaching Theological English. I’ve personally experienced the wonder that comes from reading the Bible and theological texts in another language, and encourage anyone with the desire to pursue such studies!
My educational background includes a Master’s level degree. I have a 150-Hour TEFL/TESOL Certification from Bridge Education Group, a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages (MDivBL) from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University.
