My name is Limor and I'm a certified and experienced English remediator. I specialize in the Hickey program, which is a special language technique for teaching dyslexics, developed by Kathleen Hickey and based on the Orton Gillingham approach. It is a highly structured, cumulative, phonic-based technique which incorporates multi sensory methods to optimize learning. It is suitable for any age range, widely used and has proven to be very successful. Your child would not only feel the improvement on the academic level but also on the personal level. As it is a known fact that low academic achievements and low self esteem go hand in hand, becoming a more fluent reader and writer and gaining more confidence will help boost your child's self esteem and make them feel they are part of the class.

I have a tremendous amount of experience in tutoring and coaching ADD/ADHD students, and raising an ADHD child has been a challenge in itself. But it has taught me a lot about being your child's advocate, about trying to find the good in your child, about our battles in life, about raising emotionally healthy children who will eventually grow up to be happy, positive adults, about family relations and so much more. I always make sure to stay on top of my students' academic achievements, but the emotional aspect is just as important to me. As a mother, I have given the emotional support and encouragement to my ADHD son and as a tutor I have done the same with my students.
I think outside the box together with my ADD students. I empathize with my students when they fail to achieve their goals and celebrate their success with them. I believe the sky is the limit, and with the right guidance and support your child can touch the sky and that star waiting to shine, will shine.

My credentials include a BA in English - Linguistics and Literature.
I am a Certified English Remediator (trained Dyslexia tutor).
I am also a certified instructor of the Raviv method which is a neuro-cognitive approach to developing and correcting learning

ADHD

ADHD

I have first hand experience with ADD/ADHD as I have a 37 year old son with ADHD and have gone a long way to get him to where he is today. I am also a certified English Remediator, qualified to teach English to students with specific learning difficulties, and I have a tremendous amount of experience tutoring and coaching ADD/ADHD students. I also volunteered (for 4 years) in a non-profit organization in order to promote ADD awareness among parents and teachers. My in-depth study was on ADHD and its Management at Home and at School, with emphasis on the emotional aspect, the latter being my passion and the guideline in my work.
Dyslexia

Dyslexia

I am a certified dyslexia tutor with 17 years of hands-on experience. My certificate is accredited by the British Dyslexia Association, and it certifies me to work with students with various learning disabilities that go hand in hand with Dyslexia (ADD/ADHD, Dysgraphia, Apraxia, to name a few). I also have a BA in English Linguistics and Literature, Linguistics being my major. I use the Hickey Program as my anchor. It is a highly structured, phonic-based, multi-sensory program based on the Orton-Gillingham approach. I also use multi-disciplinary techniques, like neuro-cognitive techniques, techniques to strengthen auditory and visual skills, techniques to improve spelling and spelling memory, and more. I put a lot of emphasis on sound processing and on word and language structure. I work with what works best for my students and tailor the lessons accordingly. I believe this is the best way to go, as each student processes information in a different way and at a different pace. I try to make the lessons fun and use games and out of the box ideas to keep my students engaged and to optimize learning.
Phonics

Phonics

I am a certified English remediator and the technique I specialize in (The Hickey Program) is all about phonemic awareness (phonics). I will help your child acquire the skills he/she needs to decode (read) and encode (write) words. I have seventeen years' experience in tutoring phonics and have helped many students. I am very patient, I think outside the box, and I work with my students according to their needs no matter how long it takes. I believe every student wants to be good and deserves the chance to succeed.
Reading

Reading

As a Dyslexia tutor, I specialize in working with students who find it difficult to acquire literacy skills. I have 17 years' experience in working with students with reading difficulties, and I use a unique technique which is very structured, phonic-based (emphasis on decoding), and at the same time fun to work in and will add to your child's self esteem.
Special Needs

Special Needs

I am a certified and experienced English remediator, and as such I am qualified to work with students with various learning disabilities and special needs such as dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, behavior/mood disorder, APD, speech/language delay, to name a few. I have 17 years' experience in working with students with LDs. I have also tutored students with APD and hearing impairment.
Spelling

Spelling

As a Dyslexia tutor, I work with students who find it hard to acquire literacy skills. With the improvement of reading skills and decoding, writing skills and spelling also improve. I use a unique technique, which is phonics-based, that will help your child improve his/her spelling and writing.

Great 1st session

Limor worked to make Claire feel comfortable and also tried to assess Claire's strengths and weaknesses. We got a thorough written lesson review and I feel that I can contact Limor if I need to discuss more or have questions. I definitely see this being a fruitful experience to help my daughter's reading.
