Kimberly is a great tutor. She was on time and provided very constructive feedback. I would highly recommend her to anyone else who is struggling with a research essay or any other essay.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am certified to teach ESL by the state of Illinois. This certification is attained by completing state requirements, which include specific college-level coursework, including various teaching methods and culture classes; in addition, the state requires one year of verified ESL contact hours.
I currently teach ESL students at the secondary level. Last year (2009-2010) I taught ESL Language Arts, not as pull-out program, but in a classroom with ESL students exclusively. I am very proud that all of my students passed the ACCESS test and were exited from the program, although the state increased its exiting score in January from 4.0 to 4.9.
