I’m Jose, a senior software engineer with a master’s degree in Computer Science from UT Austin and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from UC Berkeley. At Berkeley, I was a teaching assistant for an upper-division computer graphics course, where I led weekly discussion sections and held office hours. I also served as a senior mentor in a student-led computer science mentoring program.
My goal is to make challenging material feel manageable. I work through concepts step by step, give students room to ask questions, and use practice and hands-on projects to help them apply what they learn. My current software engineering work lets me connect programming lessons to real-world examples.
I welcome students in grades 3 through 12. My strongest areas are computer science, programming, algebra, and calculus. I can also help with general science, writing and research papers, AP U.S. History, and AP European History. I’m bilingual in English and Spanish and available after 4 PM on weekdays and on weekends.
