My educational background includes a BA in Philosophy with a Certificate in Ethics from Arizona State University, an MSc in Global Politics from Durham University, and PhD studies in Philosophy at Durham University (a top 3 University in the UK according to The Times 2026 rankings). My education in both the US and UK has given me a broad background in philosophy, ethics, political philosophy, and academic writing.

My teaching background includes two years of university-level instruction at Durham University. I served as a teaching assistant and lab instructor for an undergraduate Introduction to Ethics course and led a postgraduate moral philosophy seminar series. These experiences have given me experience working with students at different levels, from those encountering philosophy for the first time to advanced university students.

My approach to tutoring emphasizes active engagement and individualized instruction. In philosophy, I help students understand difficult texts and arguments, identify the reasoning behind different positions, and develop their own well-supported conclusions. I also provide academic writing support, including developing a clear thesis, constructing and organizing arguments, improving clarity and structure, engaging with opposing views, responding to objections, and revising drafts.

For essay and thesis writing, my goal is not simply to correct a student's writing, but to help them understand how to develop and communicate their ideas effectively. Whether you need help with a philosophy paper, an undergraduate or graduate thesis, or academic writing more generally, I aim to help you become a more confident, independent, and rigorous writer and thinker.

I have extensive academic writing experience through doctoral and master's-level study in philosophy and related fields, including an 80,000-word doctoral dissertation and a 12,000-word master's thesis. My academic training has focused heavily on developing clear theses, constructing and organizing arguments, engaging with opposing views, responding to objections, and communicating complex ideas clearly. As a teaching assistant and seminar instructor, I have also helped undergraduate and postgraduate students develop their ability to analyze arguments and express their ideas effectively in writing. I can help students with essays ranging from introductory assignments to advanced university-level academic writing.
Philosophy

Philosophy

My academic background is centered on philosophy with advanced qualifications in ethics and political philosophy. I earned a BA in Philosophy with a Certificate in Ethics from Arizona State University, followed by an MSc in Global Politics from Durham University. I am currently a PhD candidate in Philosophy with my doctoral research specializing in moral philosophy and normative ethics. I am able to teach philosophy from the introductory level through advanced university coursework. In addition to Introduction to Philosophy and Introduction to Ethics, I can teach normative theory from beginner to advanced level in areas including Normative Ethics, Metaethics, Applied Ethics, and Political Philosophy. I am able to work with students who are encountering these subjects for the first time as well as university students engaging with them at a more advanced level.

Thesis Writing

I am a PhD candidate in Philosophy at Durham University where I completed and successfully defended my doctoral dissertation in moral philosophy. My doctoral and master's-level research have given me extensive experience developing research questions, structuring long-form academic arguments, evaluating scholarly literature, and presenting complex ideas in a clear and rigorous manner. My university teaching experience also includes working with undergraduate and postgraduate students in philosophy. I can help students develop and organize their theses, strengthen arguments, improve academic clarity and structure, and revise substantial research projects.
