Hello! I'm Audrey, a 2024 graduate of the College at the University of Chicago with a BS with Honors in Astrophysics and a BA in Anthropology, though I also have graduate coursework towards a Physics PhD! During my undergraduate years I additionally interned at NASA (Electric propulsion at JPL), and a satellite I built as an intern at Ball Aerospace (now BAE) is currently in space. In my prior life, I was a child actor, ultimately trading the glitz and glamor of Hollywood for Shakespeare before settling in to college.
I've never been able to define myself by one field: I knew from my senior year of high school that I wanted a multidisciplinary education, and that has shaped my teaching capabilities. I have formal (classroom) teaching assistant experience with college students in introductory astrophysics, astrophysics with Python coding, and first-year physics with labs. Additionally, I have prior tutoring experience in calculus for high school and early undergraduate students.
I adore outreach, and have spent hundreds of hours volunteering in museums; I've also spent ample time supporting the educational development of underserved youth in Chicago.
I am extremely appreciative of the flexibility offered by online tutoring: having been brought up in online school prior to COVID-19 lockdowns, I am well-versed in what it takes to capture effective online education.
When working with students, I first and foremost want to build their confidence in the subject: working up the courage to admit when you don't know something and taking the step to ask questions is the first step to growing one's knowledge and aptitude. I work to first meet students where they are so that we can work towards targeted goals. While I prefer to work with the students' own materials to ensure consistency with the classroom, I am always ready to offer enrichment in topics that pique student interest.
I offer tutoring for most standardized test prep, math courses, college applications, history/social science, and more - just
