Hi! I’m Miriam, a student at Yale University studying Economics and Political Science. I graduated near the top of my high school class with a 4.0 GPA and a 1510 SAT, and reading and writing have always been a big part of how I learn and think. In my classes, I spend a lot of time working with complex texts and writing about ideas, which has helped me develop a strong appreciation for clear communication and thoughtful analysis. I enjoy helping students approach reading in a way that makes it feel less overwhelming and more interesting.
Although I’m relatively new to formal tutoring, helping others understand what they’re reading is something I’ve done for years with classmates and peers. I like walking through passages together, talking through what an author is really saying, and helping students see how ideas connect. Sometimes the hardest part of reading assignments is simply knowing where to start, so I focus on helping students slow down, ask questions, and find meaning in the text in a way that feels natural.
My approach is supportive and collaborative. I want students to feel comfortable thinking out loud, asking questions, and working through ideas together rather than feeling pressured to have the perfect answer right away. Over time, the goal is not just to finish an assignment, but to help students become more confident readers and writers who feel capable of approaching new material on their own.
