GRE, SAT Tutor with Background in Medicine and Biology

Hello! My name is Andreea. I am 35 years old and have made tutoring my main career for the last 6 years. I received my undergrad degree from Muhlenberg College, where I double majored in Biology and Environmental Science. Afterwards I attended medical school in Romania and received my MD. As a part time job, I began to tutor in Algebra, Biology, SAT and GRE. When COVID hit, tutoring became my main profession.
I am available to tutor for many subjects (which are listed in my profile). But over the years I have specialized in GRE and SAT. I have helped hundreds of students with the GRE and I stay up to date on all the changes to the exam. Most of my work has been done on another platform but I welcome to opportunity to engage with students on WyzAnt.
I am a visual learner and prefer to use diagrams, drawings, etc. when teaching/learning. I want to make sure students understand the material and I often find a suitable analogy to get the point across. I am a strong believer that the material should be learned/understood not simply memorized. Memory can sometimes fail, especially on test day! It is always safer to understand the concept and be able to rationalize one's way to the answer.
I have two pet peeves: reading carefully and checking answers. Reading attentively applies to every aspect on someone's life. Not only can it make the difference between getting a question wrong or right, but it can also mean not doing more homework than was assigned! Regarding the second, students NEED to check answers after each question they attempt. It is a worthless task to do numerous problems only to find out, at the end, that all of them were done wrong.
I take pride in the tutoring that I do and am very invested in the success of each one of my students.
