Bio

All students can learn, that's my motto. As a Special Educator of ninereen years and a tutor 7 of those years, I have had the privilege of teaching large groups, small groups, and one-one. Even though I am a Special Educator, I have taught students without disabilities in and out of the classroom, so I am very comfortable working with students of all levels.

I love teaching and watching a student reach an understanding of content that then propels them forward into the next phase of there learning. Nothing will touch my soul more than when I hear a student read for the first time or understand something they read for the first time. The confidence they express brings a smile to my face.

With my experience as a Special Educator, I have lots of ways and avenues to assess, find gaps, and work towards closing those gaps.

I absolutely love English Language Arts and Reading. I have experience with ACT prep programming. I also have experience and training in Scholastic's Read 180 program which allows students to work on fluency, phonics, and comprehension.

I have two years experience in ACT Reading and English Prep. I focus in on mapping reading passages as well as a three process of answering questions on both Reading and English.

I have been teacher for 13 years, most of my career has been at the elementary level. I am also a certified, K-12 generalist, Special Educator. Finally, as a Special Educator, I have had the opportunity to learn and teach across curriculum and grade levels, which I feel gives me a broad view of what's expected at each grade level.

I currently work with students preparing to take the ACT/SAT verbal (Reading and English/Writing portions) exam. I also have been trained in Shirley English.

I have been a certified Special Educator for thirteen years. I have had the opportunity and privilege of teaching and working with students with autism, severe needs and various learning disabilities. As a Special Educator, I have had to first assess the student and then design and individual program specifically for that student as well as know how to accommodate and modify the curriculum being used.

Gentle and caring

Jennifer was gentle and caring. She was on time for our first lesson and did her reading assessment. I like that she has an assessment to see where their gaps are and where to start in bringing up their reading and comprehension. I am excited to see how my girls progress while working with her.
