A bit about me. I grew up In South Texas, attended UNT as an undergraduate from 1977 to 1981, then spent a few years as a newspaper reporter in various Texas cities. I enrolled in Harvard University's graduate program in 1992 and received my doctoral degree in 2000. I taught at Boston University and the University of Notre Dame before making my way back to Texas!
I have a PhD from Harvard, to start, but I also have been a writer in some way all my adult life. I started out reporting for a newspaper in Waco, Texas, then moved around a bit before getting back into graduate school. I've written all kinds of news articles, both as a newspaper reporter and as a freelancer, and of course as an academic I am required to write and publish scholarly essays.
I'm easy to get along with and am eager to help students with their writing and reading skills, which I believe are actually fundamental to success in most future careers. We need to communicate effectively in our information-rich world. I can help you do that! Contact me if you want to know more.
