Dedicated to helping your child feel good about themselves as they learn the academic skills needed to have a successful school career. I know what it is like to be a struggling student, to see classmates easily grasp what seems out of reach, to try your hardest, yet somehow, it never clicks. This is why I provide individualized instruction for each child I work with. I pinpoint the skills essential for them to be successful, and create sessions filled with activities and inspiration. I meet your child where they are, using their hobbies, interests, background knowledge, and personal learning style to help them advance to where they want to go. I will help their self-esteem soar.

Helping children feel good about themselves as they learn the academic and self-esteem skills needed to soar in life is part of my passion.

I am a caring, compassionate instructor that takes the time and effort to listen to your child to find out what will work best for them in each learning situation.
My reward comes from seeing a child’s face light up when they grasp a subject they have been struggling with. Phrases I often hear are: “Oh wow! This is easy!” “I like this, Math is fun.”
“Seriously, that’s it? That’s so easy!” “No, it can’t be that simple!” “I can do this!” “I got it! I got it!”

Let me help your child become the Super Successful Learner you know they can be!
From I Can’t to I Can!

I have a valid Texas teacher certification to teach grades PK-8th grade. Having taught at all elementary grade levels, including teaching self-contained, and resource/pullout programs for special needs students, I am well equipped to help children succeed, regardless of their current needs or abilities. Because of my wide array of experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge, tips and tricks, and a variety of learning games and styles all geared to help children master their educational needs.
Elementary Math,

Elementary Math

Elementary Math is so essential these days. Students are expected to know so much more than they used to. Teachers often don't have time to help them with the basic skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division which rely on constant practice and memory to excel at. Many of the students I have worked with have difficulties in math because they do not have the proper practice and skill in these basic areas. This puts them at a disadvantage when they know "what to do" but get the wrong answer due to mathematical miscalculations. It also greatly extends the amount of time it takes to complete math problems which is why many students see their classmates finish and turn in their work so much quicker than they themselves may be able to do. On top of this, students are often rushed through subjects to meet the state requirements so that they can pass the state tests. Because so many more math topics are now required at any earlier age/grade level there is not as much time for teachers to make sure that their students fully understand each concept. Math is a skill that builds upon previous knowledge and if a child gets behind, they often get very discouraged and feel as if they may never catch up and math becomes something that they feel they "are just not good at". Let me help your child learn the basic skills they need to be successful! I can help them learn not only the basics, but can give them the additional time and attention they may need to fully understand all the math concepts that are covered in their classroom.

Study Skills

Study Skills

I have worked with students to improve their study skills for many years, and at all levels, even the adult level helping later-life students with college studies. As an educator and counselor, I bring a double whammy into my ability to improve study skills. I can do this because I address not only the academic side of studying, but the emotional side as well which deals with procrastination, lack of confidence, frustration, past poor teaching/performance in school, etc. Using this two pronged approach helps me to address the issue of study skills from all sides to ensure success for my students.

Writing

Writing

Writing is a way to communicate using written language. Writing can be essential to ensure you are providing the information needed to make your point. Good writing can persuade your audience to agree with your viewpoint. Many people struggle with writing because they do not know how to structure and formulate their thoughts into words that communicate what they want. I can help you put your words on paper in a meaningful way, whether this is through creative writing, a research paper, or simply in answering short essay questions. Great writing not only increases your ability to communicate effectively with the written word, it, oddly, makes you a better speaker as well. This means that you will be able to think faster and answer questions more effectively, and concisely whether in class or on a job interview.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

For those students who haven't had prealgebra or who had it and didn't understand it, Algebra I can seem pretty scary. Also what is learned in Algebra I is used as a foundation for other math. It often pops up in Geometry and other Math Skills classes when working formulas for shapes and other things. It is also essential for Algebra II. Many people are confused because they haven't been properly taught, or have missed out on certain key concepts. As an individual tutor I can definitely help your child (or you) pick up the skills missed and explain any new skills being taught. Don't wait and suffer more frustration. Get help now! Math can be fun and easy to understand!

Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

Prealgebra can be confusing for many students. All of a sudden letters and numbers are mixed together and students are supposed to understand and make sense of this. With proper instruction, prealgebra, can be quite easy to learn; however, due to the large student teacher ratio in most schools, it can be hard for teachers to truly individualize to each student's needs and abilities. This is where I come in by providing tailor-made instruction that will meet you or your child' s needs right where they are and make the seemingly incomprehensible, easy to understand.

Excellent tutor

With Casey's help, I've been able to write better summaries. I expected it to take a long time, yet it only took 30 minutes to complete. She provided me with the advice I was seeking. After our roughly 30-minute conversation, I felt energized and ready to take on the world. She's a fantastic listener and a pleasure to work with. I'd be happy to recommend her to anyone.

Great tutoring experience!

Casey was very approachable, knowledgeable and engaging from the start of the first session. She helped build my confidence and skill preparing for the mathematics and word problem portions of the ASVAB exam. Casey helped tailor the sessions to get the most out of our time together and patiently build my skill level working through various examples and practice questions step by step. It’s been several years since I’ve looked at these concepts and Casey made it very comfortable and easy to learn again! Thank you Casey, really lovely working with you!

Great teacher for ADHD special help

Casey is an experienced teacher for ADHD students. My son got her help in writing for 6 months, my son didn't missed any lesson as he engaged in his work and improved a lot. Casey is so kind and has positive mind, I highly recommend for other students.

Engaging and Supportive Tutor

Casey tutored my child remotely during the 2020-21 school year, which was challenging as we navigated the pandemic and remote schooling. My child benefitted greatly from the support that Casey provided him. Casey kept him organized and on track, and also provided periodic updates on his progress. She is incredibly dependable and responsive, and we are so very grateful for the one-on-one support that she provided.

Connects well with kids!

Casey helped my daughter through the pandemic with extra support in reading. She worked so well with her and was able to get her confidence back in her reading! Highly recommend!

Enthusiastic about helping my child

My first impression of Casey is that she definitely has a passion for her craft. We needed her honest feedback during the first session and she gave us hope for my teenagers ability.

Shawna, 1 lesson with Casey

She made a child afraid of failure happy about reading!

Casey patiently explained to my 7 year old that she was NOT here to judge her and WAS here to help her so that it would make reading easier! My child has HATED dealing with the school reading teacher and it has been hard to get her to want to do anything at home for that reason. I have been told that the teacher (the reading teacher not her classroom teacher) does nothing but rush her and make her "feel stupid" My daughter left her instruction HAPPY! She was EXCITED and we absolutely loved Casey!

Knowledgeable and very patient with my 4th grader.

Casey is currently helping with my 4th grader. They have built a connection that has assisted with my scholar regaining her confidence in Math. She received an A on her first test with only two sessions, while this is important to mention, I want to also stress that my scholar is retaining what is being learned. My scholar says she has learned more with Casey than she has in school!

Whitney, 71 lessons with Casey

She was very patient and explained

Casey kept it interesting and explained whatever I had trouble with. She was always on time and always patient with me. I would have scheduled another visit, however we are going out of town.
