Hello. I have been a chemistry instructor in the New York area in the early 2000s. I also taught students for the Chemistry Regents and the SAT. I now hold chemistry PhD degree in analytical chemistry and teaching for over 20 years.
I have been inspired to teach from a young age. My classmates used to get tutoring from me and they used to make comments like “you are a good teacher”. In one of the recent classes here, I overheard a student commenting on my explanation. He had brought his wife to class. They were in their early 50’s. He was saying to her that she explains well as we were going through a chemical equation and everybody was participating. That was one of those teaching moments which I often am able to bring about in the classroom, and I am sure you all experience those moments.
I am very patient with my students, actually with everyone around me. I am passionate about my teaching. You may have encountered those TV programs on CUNY channels like Mechanical Universe (physics), Western World (history), and Algebra. When I see those programs, I always see myself planning visually effective approaches for my classes. I have been a member of the Annenberg learning website from which I could even watch those programs by streaming on the net. I have been using Blackboard (for connection with student via net) for large lecture classes.
Recently I held 10 years of full time professorship positions at three different colleges.
