I am an experienced elementary educator with 14 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Science in Teaching from Texas A&M University–San Antonio. I hold a valid Texas teaching certificate with certification in Elementary Education and ESL.
Throughout my career, I have taught students primarily in grades 3–5, with extensive experience teaching elementary mathematics and science. I have worked with students in whole-group classroom settings, small-group intervention, and individualized instruction. I also have experience teaching students virtually and using online educational platforms to provide instruction and targeted practice.
My approach to tutoring begins with identifying exactly where a student is struggling and then providing instruction that meets the student at their current level. I use assessment data, questioning, modeling, guided practice, and multiple problem-solving strategies to help students understand concepts rather than simply memorize procedures. I have extensive experience providing math intervention, STAAR preparation, TEKS-aligned instruction, and support for students with varying academic needs.
In addition to classroom teaching, I have served as a Grade-Level Chair and professional development leader, supporting other educators with instructional strategies, student data, technology, and mathematics instruction. I have also led MTSS/data meetings and used assessment results to develop targeted interventions for students.
One of my greatest strengths as an educator is helping students who lack confidence in math. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying different strategies. My goal as a tutor is not only to improve a student's academic skills, but also to help them become a more confident and independent learner.
