Bio

I’m a former Broadway trumpeter and 21-year music educator with a passion for shaping confident, capable musicians. I’ve taught every level—from absolute beginners to advanced high school and college performers—and nothing brings me more joy than helping students reach goals they once thought were out of reach.

I’m a former Broadway trumpeter and 21-year music educator with a passion for shaping confident, capable musicians. I’ve taught every level—from absolute beginners to advanced high school and college performers—and nothing brings me more joy than helping students reach goals they once thought were out of reach.

Before becoming a band director, I performed professionally in Broadway productions, touring ensembles, regional theater, and studio work. Those experiences refined my musicianship, while my years in education taught me how to guide students with clarity, patience, and high expectations.

I value students at every stage of their journey. I enjoy working with beginners because strong fundamentals and healthy habits make everything that follows easier and more enjoyable. At the same time, I love helping middle school and high school musicians prepare for auditions, develop advanced technique, and grow into confident performers. Many of my former students have become music educators, professional musicians, and highly successful adults—proof of the work ethic, discipline, and confidence they built through music. My goal is to grow not only skilled musicians, but strong, capable people.

I support students with healthy fundamentals; tone, technique, range, and endurance; middle and high school band success; All-Region and All-State preparation; college auditions, chair tests, and ensemble placement; adult learners returning to the instrument; and musical expression, confidence, and stage presence.

My teaching style is warm, supportive, and goal-focused. I meet students exactly where they are, then help them build steady, meaningful progress through clarity, encouragement, and personalized guidance. Whether your dream is making All-State, moving up a chair, restarting after years away, or simply enjoying music again, I’d be honored to help you get there. Let’s build strong foundations, meaningful growth, and music you’re proud of.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and a Master’s Degree in Music, with over 21 years of experience teaching students from elementary beginners to advanced high school and college performers. I have taught and directed some of the top-performing band programs in Texas, with many students earning All-Region, All-State, and collegiate placement. My teaching approach focuses on building strong fundamentals, developing musicality, and helping students grow into confident, expressive musicians. Whether a student is just starting out or preparing for a major audition, I provide clear guidance, personalized support, and a positive, encouraging environment.
Trumpet

Trumpet

I am a former Broadway trumpet performer with well over 20 years of experience teaching students at every level, from beginners learning their first notes to advanced high-school and college performers preparing for major auditions. I specialize in helping students strengthen fundamentals, build confident tone and technique, and excel in All-Region, All-State, and college entrance auditions. While I enjoy guiding beginners and developing strong early habits, I also work with returning adult learners who want clear, structured support as they reconnect with the trumpet. My approach is professional, encouraging, and goal-focused—helping each student grow steadily, perform with confidence, and reach the next level in their musical journey.
