My name is Michael, Mike if you would like. I have a Master's in Architecture from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I tutored periodically throughout my graduate studies and served as a graduate research assistant for two years with a focus in historic preservation and sustainable architecture. I finished my degree with a 3.92 GPA, while also working full time for a consulting engineering firm.

I have worked as a project manager for 10+ years. A critical responsibility is acting as a sole point of communication between our organization and our clients/trade colleagues. This requires clear and concise communication to prevent unnecessary issues resulting from vague or incomplete correspondence. My experience in AP level English and Literature courses in high school helped instill in me the importance of clear communication, and I have carried those lessons with me throughout my educational and professional careers.

My career has allowed me to develop various skills and techniques within Autodesk Revit. Since 2008 I have worked to develop trade specific strategies for project conception and completion within the realm of architecture and structural precast concrete. This work helped support, most notably, the Texas A&M Kyle Field football stadium project. It was a 3 year effort, rewarded with a 2019 PCI Design Award. At the time, the project was the largest-ever collegiate sport project in the United States.

I have 3 years of tutoring experience, working with students at the high school and university levels, while also working to support individuals who are active in their careers. I have worked mostly in English comprehension, reading, and for ESL students at the high school levels. For college level students, I have primarily assisted students of architecture with their studies and comprehension within the Autodesk Revit software. Supporting student's strengths has been a very effective method to build upon areas in which they struggle.

Approved Subjects

Adobe InDesign

Adobe InDesign

Throughout my years studying Architecture at the UTSA and my professional career, I have utilized Autodesk and Adobe software to generate and document my architectural and structural work products. Adobe software has also been a regular part of my workflow as part of my photography business, which includes photo editing, in-house printing, and the creation of digital and print photo books and galleries. My most frequently used softwares include: Autodesk Revit, Adobe Lightroom (Classic and CC), Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe In-Design.
Architecture

Architecture

I am a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio's undergraduate and graduate Architecture programs. During my graduate studies, I also received graduate certificates in Historic Preservation and High Performance Architecture and Sustainability. I have worked within the design and construction industry for over 10 years.
Drawing

Drawing

I have extensive experience with sketch drawings as a form of documentation utilized for my work in Architecture, as well as a method of generating process ideas and developing conceptual architectural projects. My workflow utilizes sketches throughout a developmental process, incorporating sketched ideas documented from travels and job-site visits, along with conceptual sketches involving data from specific sites and locations until a formal architectural vision is achieved. Sketches continue to be used throughout the process to quickly convey complex ideas and conditions. I also have substantial experience in still life drawing and formal architectural, structural, and mechanical drafting.
Photography

Photography

I have been a photographer for nearly 20 years. I started my own photography business in 2013 and built my own website. I specialize in event photography (quinceaneras, weddings and parties) and portraits (non-studio/location shoots). I currently utilize the Nikon system for both film and digital photography and incorporate Adobe's suit of software for post-processing.
Revit

Revit

I began using Revit during my undergraduate studies in 2008. I have utilized Revit on a near daily basis during my professional career since 2009. I have worked on projects of various sizes and types: homes, apartments, parking garages, office buildings, higher education structures, data centers, and government buildings. During my graduate studies I utilized Revit to conduct research into historic preservation by modeling and rendering local shotgun houses and various potential interior upgrades to make them marketable to current buyers. I also completed a period reconstruction of the artwork that once adorned the interior of the Alamo's Sacristy.
