My name is Michael, Mike if you would like. I have a Master's in Architecture from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I tutored periodically throughout my graduate studies and served as a graduate research assistant for two years with a focus in historic preservation and sustainable architecture. I finished my degree with a 3.92 GPA, while also working full time for a consulting engineering firm.
I have worked as a project manager for 10+ years. A critical responsibility is acting as a sole point of communication between our organization and our clients/trade colleagues. This requires clear and concise communication to prevent unnecessary issues resulting from vague or incomplete correspondence. My experience in AP level English and Literature courses in high school helped instill in me the importance of clear communication, and I have carried those lessons with me throughout my educational and professional careers.
My career has allowed me to develop various skills and techniques within Autodesk Revit. Since 2008 I have worked to develop trade specific strategies for project conception and completion within the realm of architecture and structural precast concrete. This work helped support, most notably, the Texas A&M Kyle Field football stadium project. It was a 3 year effort, rewarded with a 2019 PCI Design Award. At the time, the project was the largest-ever collegiate sport project in the United States.
I have 3 years of tutoring experience, working with students at the high school and university levels, while also working to support individuals who are active in their careers. I have worked mostly in English comprehension, reading, and for ESL students at the high school levels. For college level students, I have primarily assisted students of architecture with their studies and comprehension within the Autodesk Revit software. Supporting student's strengths has been a very effective method to build upon areas in which they struggle.
