I’m currently completing my final year as a full-time geoscience student at Angelo State University, where I’ve developed a strong foundation in structural geology, field mapping, stratigraphy, and GIS. My academic journey has included hands-on research in the Big Bend region, where I’ve contributed to geologic mapping projects and presented findings at professional conferences such as AAPG and GSA. I hold certifications in HAZWOPER and RCRA, which complement my understanding of environmental safety and hazardous materials—skills that often intersect with geoscience education. Prior to college, I served in the U.S. Navy as a Tactical Air Control Party Specialist, where I gained experience in aviation safety, navigation principles, and air traffic control, all of which sharpened my ability to communicate clearly and teach technical material under pressure.
My teaching experience began in Fall 2022 as a volunteer teaching assistant at Angelo State University, where I supported undergraduate geology labs and lectures. I’ve worked with students ranging from freshmen to seniors, helping them grasp complex concepts like fault mechanics, geologic structures, and mapping techniques. I also serve as a STEM research mentor through the HSI Grant Program, guiding students through field methods, sample analysis, and poster preparation. My approach is collaborative and visual—I use diagrams, field photos, and real-world analogies to make abstract concepts more accessible. Whether in one-on-one sessions or small group settings, I focus on building confidence and clarity through patient, structured guidance.
I’m especially passionate about helping students connect textbook knowledge to practical applications. My background in both military operations and academic research allows me to bridge disciplines and tailor my tutoring to diverse learning styles. I believe in empowering students not just to pass their courses, but to understand the science behind the work they’re doing.
