Hello, I've been tutoring online both independently and for a company and have certification to teach in classroom as well. My teaching history begins with teaching martial arts in my late teens, working with both children as young as 5 and adults, and from there I would help fellow students while pursuing two bachelor's degrees and a teaching certification program. My bachelor's are in psychology and history with minors in English and Russian languages, and I'm certified in the state of Texas to teach English and history. I did my student teaching in 2017 and worked with 7th and 11th graders doing Texas and US history, and have been doing online tutoring for primarily college students since. In summer of 2022 I got a job with an tutoring company and they certified me to teach a multitude of subjects through their service.
The age ranges for academic tutoring while working independently were primarily undergraduate students but working for a company has allowed me to get experience with students from 2nd grade to master's level. My teaching is primarily one on one, other than classroom experience while getting my certification. I love the flexibility of being a tutor and knowing that the students I work with want to learn. Depending on the subject, I'll vary my teaching approach from the Socratic method to modified lecture and give detailed critiques when assessing student essays or free writing.
