I love helping undergrad Anatomy and Physiology students find the simple and logical elements of this incredibly complex subject. If you think of A&P as a foreign language imbedded in a science class, learning the new language first helps the science make more sense. Understanding the root meanings of the words helps to orient you on the meaning behind many of the words and you will start to see patterns. I work hard to match my style with how the student learns best and I am a big advocate...
I work hard to match my style with how the student learns best and I am a big advocate for drawing things out and diagraming out processes.
I received my Master's in Sports Health-Clinical Exercise Physiology at Texas Tech, a program that allowed me to take gross anatomy at the Health Science Center in the cadaver lab, and my bachelor's degree in Health Science is from Baylor University. I taught A&P I/II in higher education for 8 years at both colleges and massage therapy schools. I left full time teaching a few years back to be more available to my new family, using that flexibility to train clients (Certified Personal Trainer through NASM for 18 years) and tutor students in higher education one-on-one. I am extremely passionate about helping people understand the body and how it works, either through teaching students so they are as prepared as possible for a career in healthcare or clients working towards the health of their body.
In my spare time, I enjoy being outside in nature, hiking and camping as well as spending time with my kids, husband, and our countless pets, large and small.
