When I teach my students I start from where they are and help to push them to where they should be. Before I start my actual teaching I do a lot of research about the needs of my students and the lessons that they need. I make sure that I look at various resources and materials to make my lessons more informative and engaging. Most often I incorporate fun activities to teaching like songs and educational games for I consider that learning should be a wholesome approach.
I am patient with the needs of my students. I sometimes start my tutoring session with a chat with my student to know what they are feeling at the moment and maybe I can use that to make their learning more important. For instance, if my student talks about “soccer” then I can use “soccer” as an example while teaching so they can relate easily. Also, if I feel that my student is in a bad mood or having a little frustration about life or any situation then I tend to give advice or at least help in any way because how my student feels can also affect how he/she learns. In short, I try to be a friend to them as well.
I believe that teaching also comes from a good relationship.
