I am a retired educator with more than 18 years of experience helping students build confidence and achieve academic success. I hold a Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction from San Angelo University and have worked with students in elementary and special education settings throughout my career. My experience includes teaching reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies, as well as providing individualized support to students with diverse learning needs and abilities.
My teaching philosophy is centered on meeting students where they are and helping them grow at their own pace. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my instruction to match each learner's strengths, challenges, and goals. Whether I am working with a struggling reader, helping a student strengthen comprehension skills, or supporting foundational math concepts, I focus on creating a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking academic risks.
In addition to my classroom experience, I have provided one-on-one tutoring and intervention support for students in grades K-6. I use research-based strategies, active engagement, and positive reinforcement to help students improve their skills while building confidence. My goal is not only to help students succeed academically but also to help them develop the self-confidence and learning habits that will serve them well beyond our tutoring sessions.
