Hello! My name is Houston, and I'm currently a computer science student at Oklahoma State University with a GPA of 3.875. I have been consistently recognized on the Dean's and President's Honor Rolls and am currently enrolled in the Honors College. Some of my past courses include Calculus and several levels of computer science classes. I continue to expand my programming experience with Java, C, and C++. I was recently accepted to CU Boulder, a STEM program ranked within the top 50, and will be studying there in the fall.
I trained to be a pilot in a collegiate flight program and received my Private Pilot's License as well as my Instrument Rating. This allowed me to develop great amounts of discipline and attention to detail, and taught me how to learn complex topics under immense stress. Both of these skills have proven to be useful when I teach students.
I tutored students in math and other subjects throughout high school. By the time I graduated, my teachers had recommended me to students for tutoring. I have helped students go from failing exams to making A's. I break down complicated topics into manageable steps. Because I myself am actively learning in other subjects, I understand what the most confusing parts are. We'll work together to tackle whatever you are struggling with and find out your unique learning style. I mainly tutor calculus and lower-level math, but I can also help students with English and SAT preparation, as well as computer programming. I got a 1450 on my SAT (730 Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, 720 Math).
