Hello, my name is Abem, and I am a math tutor with over five years of experience working with students across elementary and middle school levels. I began tutoring during my college years while earning my degree in Sociology and Social Anthropology, initially as a way to support students in my community. My love for education has always been a driving force in my life, and I started tutoring as a way to share that passion with students who may have struggled for various reasons.
What began as a simple effort to help others quickly grew into a strong commitment to teaching and guiding students through their learning challenges. Over the years, I have also spent a significant amount of time working with children and youth in different settings, which has given me a deeper understanding of how young learners think, grow, and respond to support. Since then, I have expanded my experience through one-on-one sessions, small group instruction, and volunteer tutoring programs, supporting learners from a wide range of backgrounds. I currently work as a math tutor, where I focus on helping students build strong foundational skills and confidence in their abilities.
In my tutoring sessions, I take a student-centered approach. I believe every student can succeed in math when it is explained clearly and at the right pace. I take the time to understand how each student learns best so I can tailor my teaching to their individual needs. My goal is not just to help students find the correct answer, but to help them understand the reasoning behind it so they can grow into confident, independent learners. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is seeing students move from feeling frustrated and unsure to feeling capable and confident. I look forward to the opportunity to support you or your child in that same journey.
