Hi! My name is Christy Poe, and I am a proud class of 1992 graduate of East Texas State University (now East Texas A&M), with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. I bring 30 years of high school teaching experience into my tutorial sessions. I have taught everything from Pre-Algebra to Pre-Calculus, but my greatest expertise is in Algebra 2. I believe that a deep understanding of how algebra works is instrumental in being successful in higher math, and Algebra 2 offers a wonderful gateway to get there.

In addition to teaching and leading the Algebra 2 team for my school, I am also the leader for the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA) administration. For this I offer a successful bootcamp that I would love to offer as a tutorial. Most students who are taking a dual credit math course in Texas need to meet college readiness on this test to enroll.

I am also a National Faculty member for The College Board as a Pre-AP program workshop facilitator. This program has heavily influenced my teaching style by helping students to recognize the patterns and algorithms that form the rules of all mathematics. Learning to do this allows students to analyze and apply the appropriate strategy to work any math problem, rather than just being able to mimic the work of a teacher. In other words, students understand math, rather than just do math.
