My name is Jessica W., and I am an Edu Adventure Guide. I believe learning should be an adventure, and I provide the compass. I take elementary students on adventures to the Fry Galaxy to learn sight words. I also teach the reading comprehension skill of inference as a detective duo with my students. We hunt for clues to solve mysteries! Learning about fictional characters and plot development as we create a comic book is way more fun!

I am a psychologist and educator. I am an experienced reading specialist with 20 years of tutoring experience. I began tutoring in my university’s writing lab in 2000, and have volunteered my services to the students in my neighborhood for many years. I teach by the standards of education. I conduct thorough assessments and create individualized educational plans for each of my students. I give my students with as much support as they need, and provide materials for additional practice outside of sessions.

I’m a homeschool teacher for English, Math, Social Studies, and Science, but I teach other subjects as well, when requested. I teach AP courses as well. I am an Army veteran, and I enjoy helping future soldiers prepare for the ASVAB. I also have experience with test prep, such as the SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, and state standards testing, among others. Many of my students are also college students who want to improve their writing skills or need help developing their study skills.
