BEING THE CONFIDENCE BOOSTER I AM, HELP ME TO HELP YOU END YOUR CHEMISTRY-MATH STRUGGLES FOR GOOD! Offering both efficiency and value, I've amassed 90+ reviews while having experienced great success with GEOMETRY, ADVANCED ALGEBRA 2, PRECALCULUS, every level (including AP and IB) of High School CHEMISTRY, and College GENERAL/ORGANIC CHEMISTRY.

Actual examples of above: barely passing ALGEBRA 2 in Fall, then at high A's by Spring; a 1st GEOMETRY test a 57 pre-tutoring, a 2nd an 85 after 3rd meetup; a dismal ALGEBRA 2 year pre-tutoring, then a 90 PRECAL avg. next year; a 1st bad ADVANCED CHEMISTRY test pre-tutoring, then ending year at a 97; successful student outcomes over 3 consecutive years of IB CHEMISTRY (SL/HL) at PESH; 56% 1st GENERAL CHEMISTRY 1 exam pre-tutoring, then 100% on final; B+ in ORGANIC CHEMISTRY 1, A- in ORGANIC CHEMISTRY 2 over fast-paced, back-to-back SMU summer sessions; and a 5 on AP exam after 2 consecutive years of PRE-AP/AP CHEMISTRY intensive support.

My approaches for enabling students to achieve outcomes such as above involve providing clear, highly-detailed stepwise explanations accompanied by relevant visual images as needed. These techniques invariably elicit the responses of "got it" or "that makes sense" and help develop enhanced critical thinking abilities needed for STEM and PRE-MED careers.

I also provide support for students who need further fortification in GENERAL and/or ORGANIC CHEMISTRY and are preparing for the MCAT, DAT or CLEP.

Now, please reach out to me so that you can become my next actual success story.

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

Besides being an ALGEBRA, GEOMETRY, PRECALCULUS AND TRIG tutor, I have ACT Math resources which can be used from the very onset to diagnose students' particular strengths and weaknesses. Skill building strategies in GEOMETRY AND ALGEBRA can then be modeled and implemented to bring students to higher levels of achievement.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

While also being an ALGEBRA 2, GEOMETRY, PRECALCULUS, TRIG and ADV/AP CHEMISTRY tutor, I easily deal with the following topics routinely covered in a regular or advanced middle or high school Algebra 1 course: handling equations (particularly in word problems), solving inequalities, explaining a variety of functions (including graphical interpretation), solving systems of linear equations and linear inequalities, handling exponents and polynomials, factoring polynomials, handling exponential and radical functions, and dealing with rational functions and equations. During sessions I uncover foundational weaknesses and correct them, model how to handle current concepts, then provided guided practice. As additional resources I possess an Algebra 1 "Teacher's Edition" text and a large assortment of supplemental assignments to provide for my students.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

8 reviews,10+yrs familiarity w/ Plano/Richardson ISDs' ALGEBRA 2 curricula. Post-ALG 1 it requires sharpening critical thinking via the multi-step explanations of concepts as I've also done for ADV CHEMISTRY. Overall, I offer efficiency and value through the methods/resources utilized for both subjects. ALGEBRA 2 also becomes the "make or break" course when dealing with the Math sections of the SAT/ACT-an investment in potential scholarship money. The topics I help students master with greater comprehension include applying log/exponent properties (very helpful in AP CHEMISTRY); solving linear two-/three-variable, quadratic, absolute value, logarithmic, exponential, rational and radical equations; factoring polynomials to include use of the Rational Root Theorem; simplifying expressions with radicals and complex numbers; and specifying end behavior, domain, range, zeroes, presence of asymptotes for quadratic, cubic, absolute value, rational, inverse, logarithmic, and exponential functions and their transformed versions. My Teacher's text/supplemental handouts and additional practice problems provided between meetups all help break down complex concepts to aid in preparation for quizzes and unit/semester exams. I also support CBE students (particularly during the summer) who want to opt out of ALGEBRA 2.
ASVAB

ASVAB

With a strong background in MATH, CHEMISTRY and VOCABULARY, I will assist clients with the verbal, mathematics and science sections of the ASVAB test. Particular strengths are in deciphering unfamiliar word meanings deduced from context clues and in mathematical problems requiring both reading comprehension and correct algebraic representations and setups to solve.
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

I have an assortment of very effective visual resources to enable the student to master many Biochemistry concepts dealing with the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation as related to buffers, the characteristics of amino acids and proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleotides/nucleic acids, the functions of DNA and RNA in protein synthesis, and Glycolysis and the Citric Acid Cycle as related to ATP and energy production. NUTRITIONAL BIOCHEMISTRY is a particular specialty area of mine. I have also taught multiple times for the Allied Health Sciences students a College-level General Chemistry-Organic Chemistry-Biochemistry hybrid course of one semester duration.
Chemistry

Chemistry

9 AP-15 GEN-9 OCHEM reviews out of 90+ total/25+ yrs mastery of College Board's Units 1-9 AP CHEMISTRY. MY TARGETED FOCUS FOR IN-HOME or CLOSE-BY PUBLIC VENUE MEETUPS: SMU/UTD, HIGHLAND PARK HS, N. DALLAS PREMIER PRIVATE SCHOOLS, RICHARDSON HS MATH-SCIENCE MAGNET, PLANO/FRISCO ISDs, DISD's SEM/TAG MAGNET, ALLEN HS. So, let's begin lessons for this "high-stakes" course as soon as I receive your direct inquiry. In recent years 90+% of my students have earned 4s or 5s on the AP exam when a more comprehensive, long-term mastery of the concepts was promptly sought. As such, I advise committing to weekly or bi-weekly sessions. I have helped countless students achieve very successful outcomes involving ADVANCED and/or AP CHEMISTRY and IB CHEMISTRY from many of Dallas Metro's top-rated schools and with 90+ end-of-year course grades. These schools have included PLANO EAST SHS and PLANO WEST SHS (and its feeder HIGH SCHOOLS, JASPER and SHEPTON); HIGHLAND PARK+ALLEN+RICHARDSON MATH-SCIENCE MAGNET+FRISCO LIBERTY/CENTENNIAL+COPPELL+HEBRON HIGH SCHOOLS; and private schools URSULINE ACADEMY, GREENHILL, JESUIT AND HOCKADAY. I break down complex lecture/lab concepts (many times not easily replicated by AI, particularly when labs are inquiry-based) for greater understanding and with minimal memorization at the High School and College levels. To do this I use clear, detailed, step-wise explanations, along with text visuals from College teaching. GENERAL CHEMISTRY 1+2 TEST BANK items, post-session text problems and self-constructed GENERAL CHEMISTRY 1+2 final exam questions also help solidify challenging content. Yet, in many instances involving both AP and GENERAL CHEMISTRY I have found that students still struggle with the Math (ratios, proportions, logarithms, exponents, algebraic rearrangements) that comes up in connection with the UNIT FACTOR METHOD, GAS LAWS, STOICHIOMETRY, KINETICS, THERMODYNAMICS/GIBBS FREE ENERGY, FARADAY's LAWS OF EECTROLYSIS, and GENERAL, ACID-BASE (pH calculations during TITRATIONS ) a
DAT (Dental)

DAT (Dental)

With very solid backgrounds in GENERAL/ORGANIC CHEMISTRY and MATH, I've effectively supported students by concentrating on strengthening any of these subject deficits. I offer both efficiency and value. Since a career in DENTISTRY requires one to have developed enhanced critical thinking and spatial visualization (to include the concept of symmetry) skills, I emphasize proficiency in these areas, especially during segments of ORGANIC CHEMISTRY dealing with STEREOCHEMISTRY, STEREOISOMERISM and NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Students at the elementary level, particularly in grades 5 and 6, have been successfully tutored in Math. With patience I break down problems (particularly word applications) into parts that are simple for students at this level to understand and ultimately master. My approaches are also adaptable to different learning styles.
Geometry

Geometry

Having begun as a teen successfully tutoring HONORS-LEVEL GEOMETRY, I easily handle numerous topics and applications problems covered in Regular/Advanced GEOMETRY. Examples include finding unknown angle measures and segment lengths, providing training in inductive, deductive and proportional reasoning, demonstrating the various methods for proving polygons both congruent and similar, determining the lateral and total surface areas and also volumes of regular shapes and areas of composite figures, carrying out 2-column proofs, establishing the relationships between various angles and line segments associated with circles, and applying Algebraic representations (commonly done in Plano ISD's GEOMETRY curriculum) to numerous GEOMETRIC concepts in word problem situations. A favorite pairing of subjects with which I am very effective in concurrently tutoring students is GEOMETRY with CHEMISTRY. This is due to the significant logic component common to both. I will also be glad to work with any student who desires to complete his/her GEOMETRY requirement by doing CBE.
ISEE

ISEE

As assets for handling ISEE test preparation I have a very broad and thorough background in MATH to include the middle grades PREALGEBRA and ALGEBRA 1 and high school ALGEBRA 2, GEOMETRY, TRIGONOMETRY and PRECALCULUS. Along with this, I have helped many individuals prepare for the MATH sections of the PSAT, SAT and the ACT. As such, my background is also very much applications-oriented. The MATH portion of the ISEE test preparation (which I began with a student during the summer of 2016 and continued with still another client during the Fall of 2017) draws on a student's ability to handle, among other areas, many word applications problems involving algebraic representations and also the application of newly-defined symbolism to carrying out mathematical operations. These are situations that I'm very well-equipped to deal with given my extensive prior MATH experiences and my step-wise approach toward problem solving. Note: I DO NOT deal with the VERBAL section of the ISEE.
MCAT

MCAT

As you prepare for the MCAT, my strong backgrounds in both GENERAL and ORGANIC CHEMISTRY will help you better understand the following concepts: Stoichiometry, Oxidation-Reduction, Periodic Trends, Kinetics, Chemical Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, Acid-Base Chemistry, Thermodynamics, Intermolecular Forces, Stereochemistry, Functional Groups, Arrow Pushing Mechanisms (especially for SN1/SN2/E1/E2), Synthesis, and Lab Techniques (Distillation, Chromatography, Spectroscopy).
Nutrition

Nutrition

I have exceptional knowledge (and skill in personally applying it for decades) in the principles of 21st century macronutrient-/micronutrient-balanced Human Nutrition. Being augmented by my strong General-Organic Chemistry/Nutritional Biochemistry backgrounds, these guidelines have been used to create an international and multi-colored, predominantly plant-based whole foods diet pyramid after having conducted extensive research on the most micronutrient-rich eating patterns followed by the world's healthiest and longest-lived populations. Regular adherence to these practices has provided me with consistently high energy and focusing ability, both of which have been major contributors to my success as a tutor. In sharing the aforementioned knowledge and in addition to my ability to foster the development of heightened critical-thinking abilities during tutoring sessions involving GENERAL and ORGANIC CHEMISTRY, I am a particularly valued asset to those students who aspire to become doctors, dentists, pharmacists, physicians' assistants, RD's, and psychiatrists and many others in the field of Neuroscience who are interested in the effects of food and nutrient synergies in not only maintaining general wellness but also upon cognitive health. I will also provide counsel to those who would like to follow an integrated body systems approach to diet in order to achieve much-improved well-being. My fact sheets entitled "The Maximum Mental Health Diet" are designed around the core principles embodied in my food pyramid and are offered to any client upon request at the first or subsequent tutoring session.
Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry

Why not ace ORGANIC CHEMISTRY w/o repetition? I provide efficiency and value through my resources/methods. I close core GEN CHEM gaps, then clarify the OCHEM concepts using a wide-angle lens approach. This follows from experiences at diverse chemical companies, having taught at a number of 2-yr and 4-yr colleges, and having successfully tutored many ORGANIC CHEMISTRY 1 and 2 students. Several are currently practicing doctors, dentists and pharmacists. Throughout the year I will support students with homework and in preparation for quizzes, unit and final exams. I accomplish these tasks by focusing on applying core GENERAL CHEMISTRY principles and additional visualization techniques (such as use of molecular models) in order to train my students how to think both critically ("outside the box") and diagnostically (excellent training to ultimately be put to the test professionally). As a result, arrow pushing reaction mechanistic steps involving both Bronsted-Lowry and Lewis acid-base Chemistry are much better-understood and cut down unneeded memorization. Plenty of practice problems are provided during sessions and in-between meetups to sharpen skills. Students have typically derived many benefits from my clear explanations for the following areas: IUPAC nomenclature, stereochemistry, chirality, conformational analysis, SN1/SN2/E1/E2 reactions, alkene and alkyne addition reactions, organometallic chemistry, Diels-Alder reactions, electrophilic and nucleophilic aromatic substitution, enolate reactions, free radical reactions, and Organic structural determination via IR, NMR, UV and mass spectral analysis. I will also work with you during the Summer to get a Fall subject matter jump-start. Your GENERAL CHEMISTRY deficiencies will be strengthened so that you will confidently start your course without feeling like you've just been thrown into the deep end without previous swimming lessons. Thereafter, ORGANIC CHEMISTRY will no longer be looked at as the "deal-breaker" course for derailing you from y
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Performance exceeding 90% was achieved on the Texas State Educator's Gr. 4-8 MATH Exam. PREALGEBRA is that critical point between the student's prior math experiences and the more challenging upcoming courses in ALGEBRA and GEOMETRY. With my skill set in the basic handling of numbers and the symbolic representation of numbers and ideas, I will build up the confidence level of the student through patience, encouragement and practice. This boost will establish a strong foundation for successfully navigating future courses.
Precalculus

Precalculus

With Precalculus I help students master general functions and graphs, polynomial, rational, radical, absolute value, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions and their various transformations, solving polynomial, rational, radical and absolute value inequalities, factoring higher order polynomials, handling arithmetic and geometric sequences and their sums, mastering fundamental trigonometric concepts (including the Laws of Sines and Cosines) and applying them to solving problems, using the cosine and sine of angle sum and difference formula for simplifying expressions, proving trigonometric identities, solving trigonometric equations, simplifying trigonometric expressions, solving systems of equations in 2 or 3 variables and parametric equations, representing vector quantities and and applying them, and graphing conic sections.
PSAT

PSAT

Along with being an ALGEBRA, GEOMETRY, PRECALCULUS and TRIG tutor, I have PSAT resources that can be used from the very onset to diagnose a student's particular strengths and weakness in basic MATH, ALGEBRA and GEOMETRY concepts. Skill building strategies can then be implemented in order to help the student improve in weak areas.
SAT Math

SAT Math

Along with being an ALGEBRA, GEOMETRY, PRECALCULUS and TRIG tutor, I have multiple SAT resources which can be used from the very onset to diagnose students' particular strengths and weaknesses in GEOMETRY, ALGEBRA and TRIGONOMETRY. Keeping in mind that in a good many instances both ALGEBRAIC reasoning and GEOMETRIC concepts are brought into play within the same SAT MATH problem, the best skill building strategies on simulated tests can then be modeled and implemented in order to improve student achievement.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I can handle virtually all topics in TRIGONOMETRY as a stand-alone course or as a major portion of either PRECALCULUS or COLLEGE ALGEBRA and am especially strong in application-type problems, converting between degrees and radian measure and polar and rectangular coordinates, solving trigonometric equations, simplifying trigonometric expressions, proving identities, graphing trigonometric functions and their transformations, and applying the Laws of Sines and Cosines to practical problems.
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

I have a very firm grasp of VOCABULARY (to include use of synonyms) in spoken and written English and can help with essay writing by selection of the best word choices to complete sentences based on context clues. I will also assist those students with their preparations for the ASVAB and SAT by focusing on strengthening their understanding of word meanings and analogies as parts of the verbal section of these tests.

The best Chemistry tutor

I started working with Dr. Bruce when I was a junior in high school in AP Chemistry. I was struggling in the class because of the overwhelming concepts, but after consistently working with Dr. Bruce, I was able to come out of the class with an A and a 5 on the AP exam. That was almost 2 years ago. I have recently just completed Organic Chemistry I and 2 over the summer at SMU (at an extremely fast pace). Dr. Bruce worked and supported me throughout the two courses, which helped me immensely to earn A’s in both ochem I and 2. Dr. Bruce always brought forth a plethora of resources to answer all of my questions. Sometimes even answering my questions before I asked them! He not only would answer my questions, but he would incorporate applications of chemistry to the real world (such as in nutrition or his previous research) to make the learning process much more interesting. Dr. Bruce patiently worked with me through very challenging problems and thoroughly explained concepts using clear and simple language. He has helped me succeed in some of the most daunting and rigorous courses of the pre-med curriculum. I could not recommend Dr. Bruce more as his scope of Chemistry knowledge is incomparable to other tutors out there!

Tutor responded:

Hi Connie, Thank you very much for your very thorough and objective feedback. I'd be hard-pressed to add much more to what you've conveyed, as you truly captured the extent to which I will go to help both AP Chemistry students (in your case while at The Greenhill School) and then Pre-Med Organic students succeed with top grades the first time through to avoid unneeded course repetition and while also providing additional career-relevant information. In another respect, let's be honest. Both of us worked together as a team throughout this entire journey. We were always on time and always prepared at each meetup. Questions were regularly encouraged and consistently led to increased understanding of challenging concepts. So, thank you so much for making this whole experience so enriching for us both. NOTE: I am so gratified to have recently learned about all of your achievements attained upon completion of your sophomore year in May 2023 at Washington University and extend my best wishes for your continued success along your Pre-Med journey. Dr. Bruce

Knowledgeable Tutor

Thank you for reviewing my son’s Advanced Pre-Calculus worksheets with him. We appreciated your calm & patient demeanor. Plus you simplified complex problems with ease. Thank you for your expertise!

Braxton, 1 lesson with Bruce
Tutor responded:

Thank you very much for your kind and prompt feedback following up on my providing the necessary support to your son with the fundamental Trigonometric relationships needed in order to simplify expressions and prove identities contained within these assignments. You received just a taste of how I use a step-wise approach to effectively communicate concepts not only for Advanced HS Math and Chemistry but also for College General and Organic Chemistry for those students headed to medical school. Best wishes for your son's continued academic success. Dr. Bruce

Great Teacher !!

Dr. Bruce is a great teacher. He has helped my daughter with that extra help needed to increase her confidence and understanding of various 10th grade Chemistry topics significantly.

S, 10 lessons with Bruce
Tutor responded:

Hi S, Thank you so much for posting your review. You've said what has been echoed many times before, that explaining the more challenging Chemistry topics by using a variety of teaching techniques will simultaneously substantially increase both the student's concept comprehension and overall confidence level. In your daughters case and with my backing during Spring 2023, she was able to finish the 2022/2023 school year with a 90+ average in Honors Chemistry at Jasper HS. She will then continue to perform very well throughout the 2023/2024 school year in AP Chemistry at Plano West SHS with my ongoing support. Dr. Bruce

awesome tutor extremely patient and very knowledgeable

Dr Bruce began tutoring my son in Nov of last year and wow what a difference it has made. He went from barely passing to making high A’s. Dr. Bruce takes his time to explain the theory/solution. Even offering different ways to answer the problem. He has a wealth of knowledge for any learner on any level. Glad we had him as a tutor.

Kaye, 16 lessons with Bruce
Tutor responded:

Hi Kaye, Thank you very much for your feedback. You are spot on in terms of what the ultimate payoff for the student ends up being when the tutor's style embraces both patience and step-wise thoroughness in explaining any concept, be it for Algebra 2 (in your son's case), Precalculus, AP Chemistry, and College-level General and Organic Chemistry. Best wishes to your son for his continued academic success. Dr. Bruce

Well rounded and knowledgeable tutor

When I began SMU and saw how difficult the chemistry department was I knew I need someone knowledgeable to help me. I found Dr. Bruce on Wyzant and he immediately came to my aid. We have been seeing each other weekly for this semester and I can confidently say I would not hav been able to pass chemistry without him. Every session we would have he not only brought extensive material to help with any topic I needed but a smile on his face as well. He genuinely cares about you and your well being, asking me after every test how it went. A very sweet soul and I highly recommend him to anyone who is need of a chemistry help.

Anonymous, 32 lessons with Bruce
Tutor responded:

Thank you so much for providing your review describing your entire Fall 2022 semester SMU General Chemistry 1 experience with me. You accurately conveyed what factors are crucial in sustaining a long-term, successful student/tutor partnership. Yes, the emotional part is just as important as the academic component. Pre-Med, Pharmacy and Dental students whether attending SMU or other colleges would be wise to reflect on what you have communicated. I even go a step further beyond just the core tutoring to train my students in how to become better diagnostic thinkers, which will only benefit them in their future careers. I thoroughly enjoyed our association and only wish you the best as you continue along your Pre-Dental academic pathway. Dr. Bruce

Extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and patient tutor

I have been tutoring with Dr. Bruce for organic chemistry 1 & 2 and he has taught me an abundance of information in regards to both the course and outside of the course as he relayed to me the importance organic chemistry plays in one’s nutritional needs. As I am a student at smu I took ochem 1 & 2 during the summer session attaining a high B in ochem 1 and A- in ochem 2 and I couldn’t have done it without Dr. Bruce. His tutoring style caters too his students needs and he explains hard to grasp concepts in a way that make them easier to understand. What really helped me through out the course was how Dr. Bruce explained why certain ochem concepts happened rather than just simply explaining them. Through this teaching style I felt like by the time I got to the test I was well prepared to answer any question that was thrown at me as I had the background information as to what was happening and why it happened it regard to the concepts that were covered on the test and beyond. Furthermore, while understanding mechanisms in ochem can be tricky I felt that Dr. Bruce did an extremely good job of breaking down each step of the mechanism for me and explaining why it happened which helped me a ton this past summer. I honestly could not have gotten a better experience from tutoring with Dr. Bruce and highly recommend Dr. Bruce as a tutor for anyone who wants to do well in organic chemistry

Sabrina , 37 lessons with Bruce
Tutor responded:

Hi Sabrina, Thank you very much for your kind words. Your very thought-stimulating commentary on how my complete tutoring style, coupled with the knowledge and experience gained from years of mechanistic and synthetic Organic Chemistry exposure (private sector and academic, in addition to tutoring for Organic 1 and 2), should send a clear signal to any Organic student that their confidence level will just soar through their association with me. Yes, I'm very detail-oriented and will repeat important concepts an unlimited number of times until they resonate. This is no big deal for me. What is important is that no student should look upon Organic as the so-called "deal breaker" course and end up dropping it (and even later repeating it) when they can sail through it the first time with at least a "B". You did it and so can anyone else with the desire to do so! And lastly, as you pointed out, if the prospective student is Pre-Med directed (as are you), they will benefit that much more both near and long term by seeing the connection that I establish between selected Organic concepts and 21st century macronutrient-/micronutrient-/phytonutrient-balanced Human Nutrition. I look forward to supporting you once you reach Biochemistry and then ultimately with the General/Organic Chemistry section of the MCAT. Best wishes for continued academic success. I've thoroughly enjoyed our association thus far. Dr. Bruce

Highly Recommended!

I reached out to Dr. Bruce shortly after the beginning of the school year. My daughter was starting 10th grade in the IB program at Plano East Senior High coming off a year of online instruction. It was clear from initial assessments in Chemistry and Algebra she had ground to make up and she was quickly losing confidence in her academic abilities. Dr. Bruce spent the entire school year mentoring and tutoring her in both Chemistry and Algebra II. It was clear they connected from the start and he was able to help her build her confidence, improve her speed in test taking - which delivered quick and consistent results. Dr. Bruce is reliable, and based on his years of experience has a library of texts, work problems and other materials well aligned to both subjects. There were multiple times he was able to explain concepts to my daughter in ways that far outpaced her in-class instruction and helped her to master the concepts. The school year has just ended and I’m proud to say my daughter performed well in both subjects and has chosen to pursue high level Chemistry for the remainder of her IB diploma. Had it not been for Dr. Bruce, this would have been a highly unlikely outcome. If you are looking for a reliable, top notch mentor for your student in Algebra or Chemistry I recommend Dr. Bruce. You won’t be disappointed!

Thank you very much for your very insightful review describing the nearly whole school year's experience post-COVID during which I was instrumental in boosting the confidence of your sophomore daughter so that she ended up excelling in both IB Algebra 2 and IB SL Chemistry at PESH. As we've already seen, she continued to blossom under my wing with the IB Chemistry program during her junior 2022/2023 school year. Now that she has completed her 2023/2024 senior year I was elated to hear how well she mastered the IB HL Chemistry. She learned a tremendous amount of practical information that will only help her excel in both the higher-level General and Organic Chemistry courses she will be taking at Ole Miss to satisfy her PharmD program requirements. She will also become a much better critical and diagnostic thinker during this journey. All the best to your daughter, Dr. Bruce

very helpful and patient tutor

Dr Bruce worked with my math-adverse daughter once a week throughout the school year, helping her with pre-calculus. She had a dismal year doing on-line algebra 2 during the pandemic and was not prepared for pre-cal. Dr Bruce was very patient and helpful and she ended up with a 90 for the year.

Lynn, 24 lessons with Bruce
Tutor responded:

Hi Lynn, Thank you very much for your feedback concerning the positive impact I had upon your daughter's ultimate success in her Precalculus course taken at Plano SHS. Since Precalculus builds to a much greater extent on important prior-introduced Algebra 2 and Trigonometry concepts, it was important for me to consistently emphasize these ideas over time as they applied to new problem situations. Best wishes to your daughter in her Senior year. Dr. Bruce

Very experienced tutor

Dr. Bruce has been teaching SL chemistry to my kid. He has spent great deal if time in explaining the concept and reminder to take notes and very collaborative way of teaching to make the kid understand the concepts

Rajinder, 8 lessons with Bruce
Tutor responded:

Hi Rajinder. Thank you very much for your kind feedback concerning the positive experience that your daughter has had in being mentored by me to help her excel in IB SL Chemistry at Allen High School. I have always been quite impressed with the way that Allen HS has handled both its AP and IB Chemistry programs and particularly enjoyed working with her on the Organic Chemistry unit, especially the section dealing with the Spectroscopic Identification of Organic Compounds. Best wishes to your daughter for her continued academic success! Dr. Bruce

Great First Meeting

Mr. Bruce gave excellent advice to my daughter on how to start with solving a chemistry problem. This should really help her.

Tonia, 13 lessons with Bruce
Tutor responded:

Tonia, Thank you very much for your unsolicited feedback concerning the quality of the very first session conducted with your daughter. You emphasized how important it is for student mastery of Chemistry concepts to begin by solving problems using the right approach. This has always been my style and will continue to be so as we move onto additional topics to improve both her speed and accuracy. Dr. Bruce
