My main goal when teaching is to stray away from memorization and take economic concepts into the real world; allowing for not just "knowing" but having an intuitive understanding of what your learning. Economics is a social-science which means it becomes significantly easier when you actually bring it into reality. I always try and tailor the concepts to the type of person Im working with and put it into words and terms they would understand (even if that means I have to learn how Olympic Curling works to make a proper metaphor).
For the past 4 years, I have served as an Economics Coach for some of the best Academic Decathlon students in the Nation. A unique and demanding role that requires me to teach high-level college economics to high school students in a competitive setting. Unlike standard tutoring, this role forces me to be adaptable; one year we might focus on the Industrial Revolution, and the next on International Trade or Behavioral Economics. This experience has sharpened my ability to explain difficult concepts—like comparative advantage, oligopolies, and fiscal policy levers—to students who are seeing them for the first time.
I also specialize in helping students prep for the AP Micro and Macro exams in 1 on 1 sessions. Over the years I have developed numerous strategies (each tailored to different types of people) to help students breeze through common pain points like Forex. At the college level I have helped multiple undergraduates pass their introductory and intermediate exams with flying colors while minimizing actual study time.
