Now accepting new students for Summer 2026 tutoring beginning June 13. I offer flexible scheduling, including daytime tutoring hours during the summer and throughout the school year for homeschool families, flexible learners, and students needing additional academic support.

With more than 20 years of experience as a certified Elementary and Special Education teacher, I specialize in helping struggling readers build confidence and improve their reading skills. I work with students needing support in phonics, fluency, reading comprehension, dyslexia intervention, and overall academic confidence.

I hold teaching credentials in both California and Texas, along with a Master of Education degree and extensive experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, including IEPs and dyslexia. Throughout my career, I have taught reading and language arts, developed individualized learning goals, conducted formal evaluations, and partnered closely with families to help students succeed.

Parents appreciate my patient, encouraging approach and my ability to make learning feel manageable and positive. One parent recently shared that tutoring with me made a noticeable difference in both her children’s confidence and academic performance.

Whether your child needs summer reading support, targeted intervention for struggling reading skills, or ongoing academic support during the school year, I provide personalized instruction designed to help students grow academically and feel successful.

Approved Subjects

ADHD

ADHD

As a certified Special Education teacher with over 15 years of experience, I have worked extensively with elementary-age students with ADHD, designing instruction that accounts for attention, executive functioning, and behavioral needs while keeping students engaged and making academic progress. I am trained in evidence-based strategies for supporting students with ADHD, including breaking tasks into manageable steps, incorporating movement and multisensory learning, providing frequent feedback, and building organizational skills alongside academic content. My experience developing and implementing IEPs means I understand how ADHD intersects with learning in reading specifically, and I know how to structure one-on-one sessions to maximize focus and minimize frustration for these students. Parents of children with ADHD can trust that my sessions are patient, structured, and tailored to how their child actually learns best.
Dyslexia

Dyslexia

As a certified Special Education teacher with over 15 years of experience, I have worked extensively with elementary-age students with dyslexia, providing structured, systematic reading and phonics instruction tailored to each child's specific needs and learning profile. I am experienced in administering and interpreting formal educational evaluations including the Woodcock-Johnson, which allows me to identify the precise nature of a student's reading difficulties and design targeted intervention rather than guessing at what the child needs. My one-on-one tutoring sessions for students with dyslexia focus on building phonemic awareness, phonics skills, fluency, and reading comprehension using multisensory, research-based approaches that align with the science of reading. Parents of children with dyslexia can feel confident that their child will be met with patience, expertise, and a structured approach proven to help struggling readers make real, meaningful progress.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I hold a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Special Education Credential from both California State University Bakersfield and the Texas Education Agency, giving me formal certification to teach all elementary subjects across K-6. Over 15 years I have taught students in both classroom and one-on-one settings, with a focus on Language Arts, Reading, and Math using research-based strategies including Universal Design for Learning. I have extensive experience supporting students with a wide range of learning needs, including those with IEPs, dyslexia, and ADHD, and I am skilled at differentiating instruction to meet each child exactly where they are. Most recently I tutored two elementary-age siblings in the Dallas Metroplex in both math and language arts, helping them build confidence and stay on track academically throughout the school year.
Phonics

Phonics

As a dual-certified Elementary Education and Special Education teacher with over 15 years of experience, I specialize in teaching phonics using systematic, structured, and multisensory approaches grounded in the science of reading. I have extensive experience assessing where students are in their phonics development and designing targeted instruction to build phonemic awareness, letter-sound correspondence, blending, segmenting, and decoding skills in a logical, sequential progression. My special education certification means I am particularly skilled at teaching phonics to students who have not responded to traditional instruction, including those with dyslexia or other reading-based learning differences, using strategies that make reading feel achievable rather than overwhelming. Whether your child is just beginning to read or needs to fill in foundational gaps that are holding them back, I bring the expertise and patience to meet them exactly where they are and move them forward with confidence.
Reading

Reading

As a dual-certified Elementary Education and Special Education teacher with over 15 years of experience, I have taught reading in both classroom and one-on-one settings, working with students across the full spectrum of reading ability from emerging readers in kindergarten through struggling readers in 5th grade. I specialize in reading intervention, using formal assessment tools including the Woodcock-Johnson to diagnose exactly where a student's reading skills break down and then designing targeted instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension to address those specific gaps. My special education background means I am especially effective with students who have not made progress with traditional reading instruction, including those with dyslexia, IEPs, or learning differences that require a more individualized, structured approach. I have successfully tutored elementary-age students one-on-one in reading and language arts, helping them build both the skills and the confidence they need to become independent, capable readers.
