I am a Texas certified educator with a strong background in teaching mathematics and supporting students across a wide range of learning needs. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Teaching & Learning with a focus in Math (Grades 4–8) and a Master’s degree in Finance from the University of Houston, where I graduated with high academic honors. In addition to my core certifications, I am also endorsed in the Science of Teaching Reading and English as a Second Language, which allows me to effectively support diverse learners, including struggling readers and multilingual students.
I have been teaching and tutoring students for over a decade in both classroom and one-on-one settings. My experience includes working as a middle school math teacher and math interventionist since 2016, as well as tutoring elementary through Algebra 1 students on various virtual platforms. I have also worked with Mathnasium and served as an AVID tutor, supporting students from elementary through high school. Throughout my career, I have worked with a wide range of learners, including at-risk students, gifted and talented students, and those needing targeted intervention. My teaching is aligned with TEKS standards, and I have also contributed to district curriculum and assessment writing, which has strengthened my understanding of academic expectations and rigor.
My tutoring approach is centered on building confidence, conceptual understanding, and independent problem-solving skills. I break down complex concepts into manageable steps, use real-world examples, and adapt my instruction based on each student’s learning style. I believe in creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process. I also incorporate consistent practice and review to ensure long-term retention. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but to help them develop a strong mathematical foundation and a positive attitude toward learning.
