About Silati Md

Bio

I am an MD with experience helping students prepare for medical licensing exams, including the USMLE Step 1, with my favourite (and strongest) topics being cardiovascular and renal systems. I earned my medical degree from Zhejiang Chinese Medical University in China, completed clinical rotations at one of the largest hospitals in Zambia, and later in 2021, moved to the U.S, where I have done additional clinical shadowing in areas such as dermatology. I have taken the USMLE Step 1 myself and plan to take Steps 2 and 3 in 2026. I will be honest and admit that I did not pass Step 1 on my first attempt, and my initial preparation took over a year because my study approach was not working. That struggle gave me deep insight into test-taking anxiety, information overload, and how hard it can be to retain material when the foundation is not solid. Hence, my passion for the basics like physiology. This is what allows me to truly understand and support students who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or discouraged.

My tutoring style is calm, encouraging, and structured, with a strong focus on exam strategy and real-world clinical thinking. I have helped students in the U.S., India, and Africa prepare for the USMLE Step 1, and I also work with nursing, pre-med, and health-science students, building a strong foundation for medical practice. I break complex topics down step by step, use simple visuals and clinical examples, and emphasize practice questions so students gain confidence not just in the material, but in how to approach exams. I offer flexible online sessions that fit busy schedules, and I tailor each lesson to the student their goals. My goal is to help students feel confident, capable, and prepared; not just to pass an exam, but to think like a clinician.

Pharmacology

Pharmacology

I hold a medical degree and have taken USMLE Step 1, giving me a strong foundation in high-yield basic sciences, including physiology, pharmacology and pathophysiology. I specialize in cardiovascular and renal systems, helping students understand core concepts tested on Step 1 by focusing on mechanisms, integration, and common exam traps. In addition to my medical training, I have experience teaching kindergarten through first grade and leading study groups during medical school, which strengthened my ability to explain complex material clearly, patiently, and at the learner’s level. My teaching approach is structured and exam-focused, using simplified diagrams, active recall, and question-based learning to build confidence and improve performance. I love teaching and would be happy to help you pass the Step 1 exam!
Physiology

Physiology

I hold a medical degree and have a strong foundation in physiology, with particular strength in cardiovascular and renal systems. In addition to my medical training, I have experience teaching Kindergarten through 7th grade and leading study groups during medical school, which strengthened my ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, engaging and age-appropriate way. I use structured teaching methods such as simplified diagrams, step-by-step explanations, active recall, and clinical examples to help students understand why physiology occurs rather than relying on memorisation alone. My goal is to build student confidence, improve exam performance, and create a supportive learning environment tailored to each student.
