My experience teaching Resource Reading, Math, and English in pre-k through 4th will help me prepare your child for a successful year. Also, I taught Homebound students ages 3-22 in all subject areas for over 10 years so I can help your older child as well.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I have taught math from kinder through 6th grade. My desire is to teach students in a variety of ways so that they learn to love working with numbers and no longer fear them. I have attended many math workshops on teaching students so that they actually understand how they got the answer and why it is either right or wrong. I enjoy bringing students up to their grade level and challenging them to excel until math is their "new" favorite subject!

My specialty is teaching reading and writing so that my students learn to love it. I work very well with reluctant learners as well as struggling students. I have over 15 years teaching experience and now have my ESL endorsement added to my teaching certificate.
Phonics

Phonics

I have attended formal training in both the Wilson Reading and the Stevenson Language and Reading program. I have taught phonics to children from pre-school to 7th grade. I personally prefer the Stevenson curriculum and have purchased it for my tutoring business. I like that it combines handwriting, grammar, and reading components at different levels so that students of different ages and skills can have their needs met.
Reading

Reading

I can help with all areas of reading. I love changing a student's mind about reading; when the task of reading goes from their least favorite to their favorite, I consider it a "win"! With over 20 years of experience, I teach struggling students from K - 12th decoding, comprehension, and fluency skills. I implement researched- based methods or I can support school-based programs. I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham method, the Wilson reading program, and the Stevenson language skills program.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor!

About one to one relationships with regard to doing fractions and thinking about going back and forth between the same fraction but different forms. About using child's feedback to see material better and spending less time getting frustrated with vision related issues and focus on solving the specific problems. About looking at MAP and STAAR scores and how to improve them best. Very knowledgeable in all of the Texas requirements and is proving with just a few hours to be a strong advocate and to teach Isabella eventually to be a greate adovcate for herself. That focus sets Ms. Crenshaw apart from the rest. Try and you won't regret - true talent in the profession with child first approach - feedback as well as in putting plan to develop best a child with special needs.

Very patient tutor

My boy who's a fifth grader who didn't have any confidence in writing and would cry if we tried to make him write at home, but like what Mrs Pam said, she really makes learning fun, more than that, she's also a very patient and creative writing tutor, it's hard to believe she could built my boy's confidence in writing after just couple lessons. We've been doing lessons with her for 2 months now and my boy is always happy to go and enjoy his tutoring with Mrs Pam. Thank you, Mrs Pam!!

Knowledgeable and informative

Following my daughter's first session, Pam gave me several additional strategies for my daughter to use in the classroom next year. I feel confident moving forward that our summer tutoring sessions will be beneficial.

Wonderful, Great!!!

Pam is a wonderful teacher. She really listens to my son and his interests. I am amazed with how well my son responded to Pam's ideas of teaching concepts. Pam understood my son's needs and went above and beyond to see that he had every opportunity to succeed. My son is now making straight A's and is now in the correct reading program at his school. We will be seeing Pam again in the future!!!

Positive and passionate

Pam is excellent! She is energetic and makes learning fun for a first grader. I'm amazed at how much she accomplishes in an hour. She uses various methods to teach and has given us helpful advice on things we can do to help. Our granddaughter looks forward to working with her and asked if she couldn't go more often.

Very enthusiastic about writing

Pam helped our daughter write a paper that counts as a major grade. Pam is very enthusiastic about writing and has a fun personality. I can see that my daughter enjoys working with her and it works well with my daughter's learning style. 3/20/13- Pam is working with my kids on their writing skills and they are responding to her teaching. Pam is up beat and positive and my kids respond to that.
