Hello! My name is Kelsey N., and I am an undergraduate student studying political science. I have had a love of learning from a young age that, over time, has grown into a want to help others learn. This has, in many ways, been sparked by my own educational path. In 2022, I received an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma and was also recognized as an AP Scholar. During my time in the IB program, I earned perfect scores in history and English, as well as excelling in the AP Literature, AP Language Composition, and AP U.S. History exams. These experiences helped build my teaching philosophy, which is that anyone can be successful if they are given the right tools to do so. That is why I offer flexibility in lesson planning and knowledge building, to meet students where they are so that I can provide the supplemental support that will allow for them to be successful.

Almost all of my tutoring experience has been focused on one-on-one assistance. This allows me to tailor lesson plans, feedback, and approaches to the material to each student I have the opportunity to work with. I have a year of tutoring experience with elementary to high school students working in subjects such as elementary math, all levels of social studies/history, and all levels of English (including AP and IB test prep). Additionally, I have three years of experience reviewing and editing essays up to the collegiate level, as well as six years of experience assisting in teaching public speaking. For my experiences in debate organizations focusing on public speaking, I have been honored awards from groups such as Youth and Government, TXMUN, and National Model United Nations.

Working with students to help build their confidence in their skills and knowledge base is always such a joy! Learning and receiving help in areas of difficulty should be fun, easy, and accessible, and I strive to bring this to every student I work with. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a lesson/essay help!

Approved Subjects

Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

In the past, I have exclusively tutored elementary students in areas such as reading comprehension and beginning math topics. Specifically, while tutoring ELA students, the primary focus has been to develop language recognition, understanding rhyming patterns, build writing skills (including complex sentence structures). As for math students, I am experienced with teaching formula applications, basic trigonometry, geometry, and algebraic functions (such as addition, multiplication, solving for variables, etc.).
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I have seven years of experience mentoring and trainings students in public speaking. In addition to this, I have won several debate-centered awards, such as Outstanding Delegate, Outstanding Hearing Committee Chair, and awards for conference preparation at the collegiate level. Several of the students I have had the opportunity to work with have excelled in class presentations, public speaking opportunities outside of the classroom, and at multiple forms of debating (Lincoln-Douglas, Youth and Government, Model United Nations, etc.).
Theater

Theater

After studying theatre for four years, I received high marks in an international exam centered around theatrical skill and education. In that time, I focused on a variety of material including but not limited to: Shakespeare, musicals/vocal work, abstract works, comedies, and tragedies. I have been honored with several opportunities to act in several shows, stage manage, and direct a one-act play at a local high school. Throughout these experiences, I have gained essential skills from both a practical and technical perspective, such as how to execute a performance, how to make decisive choices on stage, and how to make a character come to life.
