As a certified veteran teacher with over 18 years of English grammar, reading, and writing experience, I am confident of my qualifications to tutor students in grades 1-8.
From 2006 - 2016, I taught ELA (reading, grammar, and writing) in Plano ISD, including those in the PACE (gifted and talented) program, also known as TAG. During that time, students showed significant gains on the Writing STAAR and on their reading and language MAP tests as a result of my specific, direct instruction. In addition, I am highly experienced with the WORDLY WISE vocabulary program for all grades, and with teaching Greek and Latin word roots, as well as CogAT test prep for the verbal and non-verbal areas.

From 2006-2016, I taught ELA at a Texas public school.
From 2016-2018, I taught writing, vocabulary, and grammar at a private school in Dallas.
From 2018-present, I have tutored both in person and online. My online students are located across the United States and on other continents. Currently, I have logged over 1,000 online hours.
Every student has individual needs, and my assessment process as well as my wide array of instructional strategies will identify your strengths and target your weaker areas. While I enjoy teaching students in a classroom setting, the small group or one-on-one instruction that tutoring provides allows me to support learners in the specific areas and at the specific pace they require to achieve success.

I have received extensive professional development both recently and in the past. These opportunities have equipped me to provide research-based instructional strategies in reading and writing for students of all ages. During my career, I have taught over 1.2K students; I'm confident I can help you or your child.
My ratings consistently show significant improvement in student performance. I would be happy to share them with you. Thank you.

Incredible tutor!

Linda is amazing! My daughter has shown incredible improvements in English because of Linda. My daughter’s Middle School English grade has improved three whole letter grades. I also credit Linda with changing my daughter’s perspective on English. Prior to beginning tutoring with Linda, my daughter hated English; now my daughter says it is one of her favorite subjects. Linda is the best!!!

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor

My son struggled with Language Arts.. He had difficulty in writing big sentences. Linda taught him from fundamentals and worked on his weakness. Over a period of 1 year my son even received an achievement award from his school (for his progress in LA). Moreover he is not scared of Reading comprehension any more!! Thanks to Linda!!

Excellent teacher!

My kid is a 6th grader in GT program. My kid needs help to improve his reading and writing to an advanced level, so Linda designed a customized lesson plan for him. Linda combined multiple activities to cover several topics in one-hour lesson. She always keeps my kid engaged during the whole session. My kid likes her classes and has improved a lot, especially in writing. He improved his writing skills by choosing better vocabulary and using a variety of sentences formats. He also learned how to better organize his essay. I’d recommend Linda if your kids need help or a boost in Language Arts. Thank you, Linda!
